The Prince of Persia franchise has been dormant for a while now, with no major release since 2010's The Forgotten Sands. Last year Ubisoft announced that one of the most popular games in the franchise, The Sands of Time, will be getting a remake. The remake was originally leaked before being officially confirmed by Ubisoft in September 2020. A new message released today from the development team has assured fans that the game is still in development, although any major updates have been very sparse.

The trailer for the game's official announcement shows off the upgraded graphics in some of the most iconic scenes from the original game. More screenshots for the game were shared on the Ubisoft website, presenting the game's more realistic-looking graphics and engines.

Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai are developing the remake. The Sands of Time remake will take players back to Persia, where they play the unnamed Prince again, who has to save his kingdom from the treacherous Vizier. The remake is "Coming Soon" for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. No word if the game will come to more modern consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
