How to clear The Chimney in Remnant 2

An electric encounter...

Remnant 2 is full of unique encounters and difficult boss fights. The Chimney is one such encounter, requiring you to manage several mechanics at once while racing to the finish line intact. In my opinion, it's one of the most interesting fights in the game because it does not contain a boss, but still remains difficult due to its complexity even with a team at your side. Here's everything you need to know about The Chimney.

How to beat The Chimney encounter in Remnant 2

As I mentioned, the Chimney does not have a boss you'll be fighting against. The encounter is a fast-paced gauntlet that sees you racing down a spiraling set of platforms that requires you to be diligent and deliberate with your actions. Because there is no boss, I will instead break down each mechanic you need to be aware of.

1. Electrified Collapsing Ceiling

Your greatest threat during this encounter is actually the ceiling. Once you pull the lever in the middle of the room, the encounter will start. The ceiling above you will become electrified and begin to descend toward your position. You need to follow the path to the right of the lever, which leads downward toward the floor.

This descent lets you evade the lowering ceiling, but going too fast will see you meet your end on the electrified floor that awaits you. You see, this floor is also descending at the same pace as the ceiling, so your goal is to stay between the electric ceiling and floor until you reach the end of the path. However, this is easier said than done due to the other mechanics involved.

2. Purple Crystals

While you're speeding down the spiral, you will encounter ominous purple crystals that are either dimmed or bright purple. These crystals conduct electricity and act like Tesla coils when you get close. Approaching a bright purple crystal will result in you taking massive electric damage and a DoT that will likely kill you in a few seconds.

Dimmed crystals, however, are inactive, and are not a direct threat to you. They will become active after some time, though, so I recommend destroying every crystal you see before starting the encounter. This can be done by going to the edge of the elevated platform you start on, looking down, and shooting the crystals. They only take a few shots with any weapon to destroy. Doing this will limit how much you need to stop and shoot during the gauntlet.

3. Root Obstructions

At two different points during your descent down the platform, you'll run into what seem like dead ends. However, these are actually obstructions caused by overgrown Root vines. They will block your path until you destroy them. Doing so will open up a new path where your original one ended. From here, keep following the path down and continue as you were.

4. Endless Enemies

During the encounter, weak—but numerous—Root enemies will spawn until you reach the end. For the most part, these can be avoided without having to stop. However, if they are grouped up enough to hinder your progress, take them out ASAP so you can keep moving.

Upon reaching the floor, you will receive a "Quest Completed" notification, signifying your victory over The Chimney. Congratulations!
