Best Characters in Risk of Rain 2

A totally non-controversial tier list.

Risk of Rain 2 is a chaotically good time alone or with friends. This roguelike places players on a hostile alien planet where they must survive against increasingly overwhelming odds. The key to surviving is finding a character/class that allows for maximum survival and enemy elimination with extreme prejudice. While we would typically say the best class is the one that resonates with a player, there are a few that stand out among the rest.

The Railgunner is one of two characters available in the Survivors of the Void DLC. This sniper is lightning fast and can deliver punishing critical hits when zoomed in. Throw in some mines for crowd clear and additional mobility, and the Railgunner quickly becomes a force to be reckoned with.

4. MUL-T

This adorable little bastion of robotics is one of the most versatile characters on the roster. Its nailgun pulls double duty, as it can act as an assault rifle or sniper. Its transport mode also allows it to zip around the map, and its large health pool gives it surprising survivability.

The Loader is focused on one thing and one thing alone: carnage. They get in close thanks to their Grapple Fist and can lay into foes, burning bosses down like nobody's business. With a well-rounded team to handle those pesky flying enemies, the Loader can focus on doing what they do best.

  • Health: 160 (+48 per level)
  • Health Regen: 2.5/s (+0.5 per level)
  • Damage: 12 (+2.4 per level)

2. The Captain

The Captain didn't get their rank by being ineffective. This support master wields a mighty shotgun, defensive microbots, and can call in orbital strikes and support. The Orbital Supply Beacon can be used twice per stage, and each provides buffs. One such buff reduces the price of nearby objects (chest, drones, and shrines) to $0!

  • Health: 110 (+33 per level)
  • Health Regen: 1/s (+0.2 per level)
  • Damage: 12 (+2.4 per level)
  • Armor: 0 (+0 per level)

1. Void Fiend

The Void Fiend is a jack-of-all-trades and just might be a master of several. It can slow enemies, decimate bosses, deal massive AoE damage, heal, and reflect damage. It just goes to show that when enemies gaze too long into the Abyss, the Abyss gazes back.

  • Health: 110 (+33 per level)
  • Health Regen: 1/s (+0.2/s per level)
  • Damage: 12 (+2.4 per level)
