Adopt Me! adds methods to avoid being scammed

Roblox's Adopt Me is the most popular game on the platform, and with that popularity has come a lot of unfortunate side effects, including getting scammed by other players. It appears that Adopt Me is taking this quite seriously, because in their most recent update, they have added some new additions to the game that should help remove common ways that players are being scammed! Make sure to read through all of these, so you can keep your account safe and avoid losing any valuable pets that you might have acquired.

General Roblox Scam Avoidance

These are the steps you can take to avoid having your Roblox account taken from you. These are very basic, and you should already be employing these already.

  • Never tell anyone the password to your Roblox account, even if you trust them!
  • Do not share personal information with other players, because it could allow scammers to guess the answers to your security questions.
  • If you login to your account on a public device, make sure to completely logoff from it when you are done.
  • Enable 2 Step Verification on your Roblox account.

Adopt Me! Scams

Here's a look at some of the common scams people have been engaging in!

Trust Trade

This scam is done by a player asking you to give them items and pets based on trusting them to give you something in return later. Never trust anyone that is attempting to do this, or you could easily lose all of the items you gave them and get nothing back!

2-Part Trade

If you are doing a large trade that will require two windows worth of pets, then it's possible that they will trade you the first part of it and not give you the rest. This is being mostly fixed by increasing the amount of pets you can trade. Instead of only being able to trade four pets, you can now trade up to nine!

Fake Staff or Influencer

There have been cases of people pretending to be a staff member or an influencer in the game. This will be much harder now, because all staff with influencers will be clearly marked with a different colored name and emoji next to their name.

New Additions to Adopt Me! Trading

We've already briefly mentioned it, but there are now going to be nine trade slots available, which should reduce the need for 2-part trades. You can now earn yourself a Trading License, which requires that you complete a quiz that will allow you to trade higher rarity pets. There is also a trade history, so if someone scams you, then you can report them in the game! Finally, there's a 2-step trade system enabled now. If the game senses that the trade might be unfair, it will warn you about it, so you can decide not to go through with it.
