There are two main types of Dive Down mutations: Ocean mutations and Weather mutations. Ocean mutations can appear on fish while you are diving, while Weather mutations are applied to fish in your aquarium during weather events. This guide lists every known Dive Down mutation, its multiplier, and the best way to get it.

All Mutations in Dive Down - Multipliers & How to Get

The best mutation in Dive Down is currently Rainbow, which gives a 3.0x multiplier to a fish's earning rate and sale value. For Weather mutations, Evil is one of the strongest known options, with a 2.8x multiplier. Since fish can only have one mutation at a time, the best mutated fish are usually high-rarity fish with Rainbow, Evil, Gold, Yin Yang, Magma, or Silver.

RankMutationTypeMultiplier
1RainbowOcean3.0x
2EvilWeather2.8x
3GoldOcean2.7x
4Yin YangWeather2.6x
5MagmaWeather2.5x
6SilverOcean2.4x
7InfectedWeather2.3x
8ChocolateWeather2.2x
9ShockedWeather1.9x
10FrozenWeather1.5x
11DryWeather1.1x

Ocean mutations usually have stronger multipliers, but Weather mutations are easier to farm because they can be applied to fish that are already in your aquarium. That makes Weather events useful if you have rare fish stored and want to increase their income without finding another mutated version in the ocean.

Weather mutations work differently from Ocean mutations. Fish with Weather mutations do not normally spawn while you are diving. Instead, Weather mutations are applied to fish in your aquarium during weather events. If you want to get the most value from a Weather event, keep your best unmutated fish in the aquarium before the event starts.

Weather events can appear randomly, and there is also a weather machine on the bridges that lets you start weather events manually with Robux. During a weather event, random fish in your aquarium have a chance to receive the matching Weather mutation. The event does not guarantee that a specific fish will mutate, so having more fish in your aquarium gives you more chances to benefit from the event.

The table below lists the known Weather mutations in Dive Down, their multipliers, and the best-matching weather event or source.

InfectedIncreases your fish's earning rate and sale value by 2.3x.The Infected mutation is a higher-value Weather mutation. It is applied through its matching weather event or by triggering the event through the weather machine when available.
MagmaIncreases your fish's earning rate and sale value by 2.5x.The Magma mutation is one of the best Weather mutations. It is applied during its matching weather event and is worth saving high-rarity unmutated fish for.
Yin YangIncreases your fish's earning rate and sale value by 2.6x.The Yin Yang mutation is one of the strongest Weather mutations in Dive Down. Try to keep your rarest unmutated fish in the aquarium before this event begins.
EvilIncreases your fish's earning rate and sale value by 2.8x.The Evil mutation is currently the strongest known Weather mutation. It has a lower multiplier than Rainbow but is stronger than Gold, making it one of the best mutations to get on rare fish.

Best Mutations in Dive Down

The best mutation in Dive Down is Rainbow because it gives the highest overall multiplier at 3.0x. If you see a Rainbow fish while diving, you should catch it immediately, especially if it is a rare, legendary, mythical, or secret fish.

For Weather mutations, the best known option is Evil at 2.8x, followed by Yin Yang at 2.6x and Magma at 2.5x. These are the Weather mutations you should prioritize if you have valuable unmutated fish in your aquarium.

How to Get Weather Mutations in Dive Down

To get Weather mutations in Dive Down, keep fish in your aquarium and wait for a weather event to start. When a weather event is active, random fish in your aquarium can receive the matching mutation. You can also use the weather machine found on bridges to trigger certain weather events manually with Robux.

The best strategy is to keep your highest-rarity unmutated fish in the aquarium before a strong Weather event begins. Since Weather mutations are applied randomly, you cannot choose the exact fish that gets mutated, but having more valuable fish in your aquarium gives you a better chance of getting a useful result.

Can Fish Have Multiple Mutations in Dive Down?

No, fish cannot have multiple mutations in Dive Down. Each fish can only have one mutation at a time. That means a fish with Silver, Gold, or Rainbow cannot also receive a Weather mutation. The same rule applies to Weather mutations, so a Frozen fish cannot also become Chocolate, Magma, Evil, or any other Weather mutation.

Because mutations do not stack, you should not expect a Rainbow fish to become stronger through Weather events. Rainbow is already the best mutation, while Weather events are better for improving valuable fish that do not have a mutation yet.

How to Remove Mutations in Dive Down

If you want to replace a low-value mutation, look for the Mutation Remover. This item is used to remove a mutation from a fish, which can be useful if one of your best fish gets a weaker mutation like Dry or Frozen and you want to try for a stronger Weather mutation later.

Only use a Mutation Remover on valuable fish. For common fish, it is usually better to keep diving or wait for another Weather event instead of spending resources to reset the mutation.
