When it comes to the best units in Anime Expeditions’ release meta, rankings mostly come down to how much value each unit provides on its own. There are still relatively few units that truly matter right now, and we are, of course, mainly talking about Mythic and Secret units.

There are some synergies already, but not nearly as many as there will be once the game expands further. For now, each unit in my Anime Expeditions Tier List should be evaluated based on several key factors:

  • Stats – Core unit stats such as Damage, Attack Speed, Range, Critical Chance, Critical Damage, and more.
  • Status Effects – Many units apply status effects with their attacks, such as Burn, Freeze, Slow, and Bleed. These can help you clear waves faster, stall enemies, and control the battlefield more effectively.
  • Attack Type – There are currently three damage types in the game: Physical, Magical, and Psychic.
  • Element – Most units have an Element, such as Storm, Flame, Gale, Hydro, Dark, Neutral, Terra, Light, and more.
  • Passives – Most units in the upper tiers of our Anime Expeditions Tier List have several powerful passive abilities that can make all the difference in the right team comp.
S

Anime Expeditions S Tier Units

The best Anime Expeditions units either carry runs outright or bring enough utility to make the rest of your team noticeably better. Most of these units have multiple win conditions built into their kits, whether that means scaling, summons, crowd control, economy, or absurd team buffs.

Unit Evaluation
Shadow Divine Anime Expeditions unit

Shadow (Divine)

Secret DPS Dark Magical Stun / Rewind

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • The most complete unit in the release meta. Shadow brings damage, permanent summons, Stun, Rewind, and a global Magical buff in one slot.
  • Shadow Realm rewinds enemies and gives every Magical unit 25% more Damage for 30 seconds. That is a boss-wave reset button and a team-wide burst window at the same time.
  • Winged Spirit keeps throwing out AoE damage and Stuns, while Divine Spirit is effectively a permanent extra carry once summoned.
  • He is already cracked on his own, but in a Magical comp he becomes the unit the entire team is built around.
Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit

Puppet (Telekinetic)

Mythic DPS Light Psychic Puppet Mark / Rewind

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Gowther from The Seven Deadly Sins.

  • Puppet Mark targets the strongest enemy in range and makes it take 20% increased incoming damage. Against bosses, that is basically free team-wide damage amplification with near-perfect uptime.
  • Complete Control adds a two-second Rewind on a short 30-second global cooldown, which can save a leaking lane or buy another attack cycle for your carries.
  • The Doll summon is a useful emergency blocker rather than a real DPS summon, but it still adds another layer of safety after marked enemies die.
  • Puppet is less of a traditional carry and more of a premium hybrid. The damage amp alone is enough to justify the slot.
8th Sword Berserk Anime Expeditions unit

8th Sword (Berserk)

Secret DPS Neutral Physical Dismembered / Stun

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach.

  • A proper late-game hypercarry. Every takedown adds 1% Damage, up to a ridiculous 100% permanent increase, so getting him down early matters.
  • Demonic Presence constantly chips everything inside his inner range, while Execution Cycle teleports to a target and Stuns it every 10 seconds.
  • At 25 takedowns, Berserk gives him another 20% Damage, lower SPA, and Dismembered on every attack for 15 seconds.
  • He needs kills and good placement to reach full value, but once he ramps, enemies basically get blendered for entering his range.
Crimson Brother Anime Expeditions unit

Crimson (Brother)

Exclusive DPS Dark Magical Crimson Mark / DoT

Best Trait: Unbound or Draconic

Inspired by Choso from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • Crimson is one of the best lane-melting units because every normal attack plants a delayed explosion, and those explosions leave damaging pools behind.
  • Piercing Crimson is the real nuke: it deals 75% Damage every second for 10 seconds down a selected line while repeatedly applying Crimson Mark.
  • He stops normal attacking during the channel, so do not just throw it out whenever it lights up. Aim it down a long lane or save it for a boss push.
  • The mix of burst, delayed explosions, and ground DoT makes him excellent into both dense waves and high-HP targets.
Cursed Student True Love Anime Expeditions unit

Cursed Student (True Love)

Mythic DPS Dark Physical Bleed Synergy

Best Trait: Unbound or Draconic

Inspired by Yuta Okkotsu from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • Cursed Mimicry copies the closest allied unit's attack every third regular attack, dealing his own current Damage plus part of that ally's Damage.
  • Place him next to your hardest-hitting carry and the passive becomes absurdly efficient. Put him beside a weak support and that is entirely on you.
  • Spirit Bats add more sustained damage in Bleed teams, but the Bleed has to come from the surrounding comp rather than Cursed Student himself.
  • He scales with both his own build and the unit beside him, giving him one of the highest ceilings among the Mythics.
Flame Emperor Reincarnate Anime Expeditions unit

Flame Emperor (Reincarnate)

Mythic DPS Flame Magical Burn

Best Trait: Unbound or Draconic

Inspired by Sabo from One Piece.

  • Wildfire turns every Burn application into four burning enemies, so Flame Emperor clears packed waves without needing perfect targeting.
  • Wall of Fire lets you manually tag an entire lane with Burn, which is great for catching enemies outside his normal attack pattern.
  • He is also the best enabler for units such as Hollow, turning Burn-dependent passives from inconsistent gimmicks into reliable damage.
  • Excellent wave clear, strong DoT, and premium synergy make him one of the safest Mythics to invest in.
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit

Ramen Guy

Legendary Farm No Element Physical Yen Boost

Best Trait: Investor

Inspired by Teuchi from Naruto.

  • The 50% bonus Yen from kills gets your carries online several waves earlier, which matters more than another mediocre damage unit.
  • He is the best farm unit currently available. Until the economy meta changes, that makes him an automatic S Tier pick for longer modes.
Toy Maker Anime Expeditions unit

Toy Maker

Exclusive Support Dark Psychic Summons / Blocking

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Sugar from One Piece.

  • Toy Maker does not attack normally. He continuously throws blockers onto every path inside his range, buying your DPS units a ridiculous amount of extra uptime.
  • Later upgrades add movement speed, death AoE, and mutated Toys with 150% increased Health, so the summons remain relevant instead of instantly getting folded.
  • He is especially strong on maps where you can cover multiple lanes from one placement, although summon Health gets divided across those paths.
  • Raw damage charts will undersell him. In actual runs, the amount of stalling and lane control he provides is S Tier.
Salmon Sorcerer Grade 1 Anime Expeditions unit

Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1)

Mythic Support Gale Magical Slow / Stagger

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Toge Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • Salmon applies Slow at every upgrade and Staggers enemies for two seconds when they enter the inner half of his range.
  • That gives you two separate layers of crowd control without any complicated setup, which is exactly what you want from a support slot.
  • Place him where enemies enter your main kill zone and he keeps them grouped inside AoE attacks for much longer.
  • His own damage is secondary. The real value is how many extra attacks he gives the rest of your team.
A

Anime Expeditions A Tier Units

A Tier units are strong enough for difficult content and can look S Tier in the right setup. They usually need a specific status effect, team composition, map, or ramp-up condition before their kits fully come online.

Anime Expeditions A Tier unit rankings, attributes, status effects, and evaluations
Unit Evaluation
String Demon Awakened Anime Expeditions unit

String Demon (Awakened)

Mythic DPS Neutral Magical Cocoon / Stun

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Donquixote Doflamingo from One Piece.

  • Every fifth attack Cocoons enemies for up to five seconds. Break the Cocoon with 10 hits and it pops for 125% of String Demon's current Damage.
  • String Sync can also force up to three linked allies to perform follow-up attacks, making fast teams even more obnoxious.
  • The catch is that both passives want a high attack volume. In a slow comp, Cocoons expire without exploding and String Sync loses a lot of its ceiling.
Reaper Released Anime Expeditions unit

Reaper (Released)

Mythic DPS Light Physical Permanent Self-Buffs

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach.

  • Adaptation gives Reaper 10% Damage and Critical Chance for every different enemy type he attacks, so he scales extremely well on varied maps.
  • Once the Crit starts flowing, Critical Tempo can maintain up to 15% lower SPA, giving him a clean Damage, Crit, and Attack Speed scaling loop.
  • Mirage Step is useful for repositioning and creates a clone, while Mirage Swap gives him a built-in Stun cleanse.
  • Excellent when the stage feeds him multiple enemy types, merely good when it does not. That map dependence keeps him below S Tier.
Lady Giant Envy Anime Expeditions unit

Lady Giant (Envy)

Mythic DPS Terra Physical Stone Walls

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Diane from The Seven Deadly Sins.

  • Lady Giant mixes respectable DPS with two automatically spawning Stone Walls, giving her more lane control than most pure carries.
  • Every four attacks throws an extra rock for 100% Damage, increased to 125% while she is in Giant Form.
  • Giant Form gives a massive 125% Damage and 50% Range boost, but the 25% SPA increase makes her attack slower. It is a burst window, not a permanent god mode.
  • Strong, flexible, and easy to use, but she does not scale or amplify a team as hard as the S Tier carries.
Hollow Blaze Anime Expeditions unit

Hollow (Blaze)

Mythic DPS Flame Magical Austere Flames

Best Trait: Unbound or Draconic

Inspired by Gabimaru from Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku.

  • Hollow consumes Burn applications and converts them into Austere Flames, dealing 65% Damage on attack or 85% when Burn expires inside his range.
  • With Flame Emperor constantly spreading Burn, Hollow becomes a proper damage engine that keeps cashing in those applications.
  • Without a reliable Burn applicator, half the kit is sitting there doing nothing. Great specialist, average standalone carry.
Forbidden Teacher Anime Expeditions unit

Forbidden Teacher

Legendary Support No Element Magical Magical Damage Buff

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Utahime Iori from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • A straightforward Magical buffer that becomes better with every strong Magical carry you can fit inside his range.
  • He is cheap, slot-efficient, and does exactly what a support should do. The only reason he is not S Tier is that he contributes almost nothing outside Magical teams.
The Hero Anime Expeditions unit

The Hero

Legendary Support No Element Physical Physical Damage Buff

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Himmel from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

  • The Hero is the Physical version of Forbidden Teacher, and he is just as valuable when your comp is stacked with Physical DPS.
  • Cluster several carries around him and the buff easily earns back the team slot. Bring him into a Magical lineup and he is basically decorative furniture.
True Saint Holy Anime Expeditions unit

True Saint (Holy)

Exclusive Support Light Magical True Saint Mark

Best Trait: Unbound

Inspired by Hinata Sakaguchi from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

  • Regular attacks mark up to five enemies, while Crits detonate every active mark for extra damage. The free Critical Chance gained from upgrades keeps the loop fairly consistent.
  • Seize turns True Saint into a temporary carry by stealing 20% Damage from the three strongest nearby allies for 60 seconds.
  • That burst can be strong, but you are powering him up by weakening your actual carries. Useful when timed well, griefing your own team when timed badly.
Elf Mage Unleashed Anime Expeditions unit

Elf Mage (Unleashed)

Mythic DPS Wind Magical Mana Burn

Best Trait: Unbound or Draconic

Inspired by Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

  • Elf Mage casts extra 100% Damage attacks at three, five, and seven Arcane Charges, rotating between Line, Circle, and Full AoE.
  • Eruption also applies Mana Burn, while every full charge reset permanently increases Arcane Spell Damage by 5%, up to 25%.
  • She needs time to cycle charges and build Overcharge stacks, but longer modes give her excellent AoE uptime and scaling.
  • Very strong once rolling, just not as immediately oppressive as the S Tier carries.

RELATED: Anime Expeditions Codes

So there you have it, that's the reasoning behind my S and A tiers in the Anime Expeditions Tier List. There's no point going through the remaining tiers as those units either don't have any passives or are simply not meta-relevant enough for me to take enough time to write about them, to be honest.

Anime Expeditions Equipment Tier List

This section covers only exclusive gear that is unique to some of the top meta units. In my opinion, these units are simply not complete without the passives and abilities provided by their equipment pieces. If you want a unit to reach its full power and potential, you will need to equip it with the right exclusive gear.

Check out the full list below.

Gear

Best Anime Expeditions Unit Equipment

Unit Equipment in Anime Expeditions does much more than provide a couple of small stat bonuses. Most pieces unlock a unit-defining Equipment Passive, meaning the right gear can fix a unit’s biggest weakness, complete its build, or push an already strong character into the meta.

Anime Expeditions unit equipment bonuses, exclusive passives, and evaluations
Equipment Evaluation
Webbed Fruit equipment in Anime Expeditions

Webbed Fruit

Exclusive to String Demon (Awakened)

Unit Equipment +1% Range -1% SPA
Equipment Passive: Cocoon of Carnage
  • Every five regular attacks Cocoons all enemies hit.
  • Cocooned enemies are Stunned until the Cocoon takes 10 hits or five seconds pass.
  • Breaking it with 10 hits deals 125% of String Demon’s current Damage.
  • The Cocoon despawns without bonus damage if it is not broken in time.
  • Core gear for String Demon. The extra Range and lower SPA both help him cycle Cocoons more consistently.
  • Fast-hitting teams get the full value by breaking each Cocoon for the 125% burst. Slower comps still get up to five seconds of AoE Stun, but leave a lot of damage on the table.
  • This is the piece that turns String Demon from a decent Magical DPS into a proper crowd-control carry.
Technique Amplifier equipment in Anime Expeditions

Technique Amplifier

Exclusive to Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1)

Unit Equipment -1% SPA +1% Range
Equipment Passive: Crumble Away
  • Applies Slow based on Salmon Sorcerer’s current attack.
  • Explode: 20% Slow.
  • Blast Away: 35% Slow.
  • Twist: 50% Slow.
  • Crush: 65% Slow.
  • This is why Salmon Sorcerer is such a nasty late-game support. His Slow scales from useful to completely obnoxious as his attack changes.
  • The Range bonus helps him cover more of the kill zone, while lower SPA improves both his Slow uptime and personal damage.
  • At 65% Slow, enemies crawl through your DPS ranges. There is almost no reason to run Salmon without this equipped.
Spirit of the Moonblade equipment in Anime Expeditions

Spirit of the Moonblade

Exclusive to Reaper (Released)

Unit Equipment +1% Crit Chance +1% Crit Damage
Equipment Passive: Adaptation
  • Reaper gains permanent buffs after attacking different enemy types.
  • Each distinct enemy type grants +10% Damage.
  • Each distinct enemy type also grants +10% Critical Chance.
  • Reaper’s main scaling engine. Mixed-enemy stages let him stack Damage and Crit extremely quickly.
  • The added Crit also feeds Critical Tempo, which lowers his SPA after critical attacks. Once the passives start looping together, his DPS ramps hard.
  • It is less impressive in short stages or maps with little enemy variety, but in longer content this is easily his best-in-slot equipment.
Promise Ring equipment in Anime Expeditions

Promise Ring

Exclusive to Cursed Student (True Love)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage -1% SPA
Equipment Passive: Spirit Bats
  • Every 20 Bleed stacks accumulated within range summons a Bat Spirit.
  • A maximum of three Bat Spirits can exist at once.
  • Each Bat Spirit deals 25% of Cursed Student’s current Damage per attack.
  • Bat Spirits despawn after performing three attacks.
  • Excellent in a dedicated Bleed comp, where the Bat Spirits keep spawning and add a steady stream of free follow-up damage.
  • The lower SPA also helps Cursed Student reach his Cursed Mimicry procs faster, so the base stats are useful even before the bats appear.
  • Without another unit consistently stacking Bleed, the equipment passive barely exists. Build around it or use Promise Ring as a glorified stat stick.
Hell's Flower equipment in Anime Expeditions

Hell’s Flower

Exclusive to Hollow (Blaze)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage -1% SPA
Equipment Passive: Radial Flames
  • When Burn stops ticking on an enemy within Hollow’s range, one Burn application becomes Austere Flames.
  • Austere Flames deals 85% of Hollow’s current Damage.
  • Separate Radial Flames instances do not stack with one another.
  • This equipment supplies one of Hollow’s biggest Burn payoffs, converting expired applications into another chunk of damage.
  • Pair it with Flame Emperor and Hollow constantly cashes in Burns instead of waiting around for enemies to walk out of range.
  • It is premium gear in a Burn comp and fairly underwhelming without one. Hollow is a specialist, and Hell’s Flower does not pretend otherwise.
Hair Bells equipment in Anime Expeditions

Hair Bells

Exclusive to 8th Sword (Berserk)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage +1% Range
Equipment Passive: Demonic Presence
  • Enemies within 50% of 8th Sword’s Range take 15% of his current Damage every second.
Equipment Passive: Savage Rebound
  • Immediately cleanses Stun whenever 8th Sword is Stunned.
  • Triggers Thunderclap Cut for 125% of current Damage.
  • All of his follow-up attacks apply Dismembered.
  • One of the strongest equipment pieces in the game. Demonic Presence turns half of 8th Sword’s Range into a constant damage aura.
  • The Range stat is especially valuable because it also expands the effective area of Demonic Presence.
  • Savage Rebound hard-counters Stun mechanics while rewarding the enemy for trying with a 125% follow-up attack.
  • Hair Bells improves his damage, survivability, crowd control, and consistency. It is basically mandatory once you own it.
Emperor's Attire equipment in Anime Expeditions

Emperor’s Attire

Exclusive to Flame Emperor (Reincarnate)

Unit Equipment +1% Damage +1% Range
Equipment Passive: Wildfire
  • Whenever Flame Emperor applies Burn, it spreads to the five nearest enemies without Burn.
  • Emperor’s Attire turns a single Burn application into near-instant coverage across an entire enemy pack.
  • It massively improves Flame Emperor’s wave clear and makes him the best Burn enabler for units such as Hollow.
  • The passive matters less against an isolated boss, but the Damage and Range bonuses are always useful.
  • For general play and Burn comps, this is a clear best-in-slot piece and a major part of Flame Emperor’s S Tier value.

Best Anime Expeditions Team Comps and Synergies

The best Anime Expeditions team is not always six top-tier damage dealers. Strong compositions combine carries with the economy, crowd control, damage amplification, status effects, summons, and positioning needed for a particular map or game mode. The teams below use six distinct units and do not rely on stacking multiple copies of a unit.

Team-building rule: Preserve the main synergy pair or core interaction first, then adjust the final one or two slots around the current stage.
Best Anime Expeditions team compositions, recommended units, synergies, game modes, strengths, weaknesses, and replacements
Team Comp / Units Evaluation

Shadow Realm Magical Burst

The strongest all-purpose endgame shell for turning a boss wave into one coordinated Magical damage window.

Endgame Raid Boss Burst Magical Core
Shadow Divine Anime Expeditions unit

Crimson Brother Anime Expeditions unit
Crimson (Brother) Lane burst / Ground DoT
Flame Emperor Reincarnate Anime Expeditions unit
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Burn / Packed-wave clear
Forbidden Teacher Anime Expeditions unit
Forbidden Teacher Local Magical buffer
Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Boss amp / Rewind
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy / Faster upgrades

Core interaction: Shadow Realm, Puppet Mark, and Piercing Crimson should be timed around the same boss push.

  • Best for: Raids, difficult Story acts, longer Challenges, and Expedition runs with dangerous boss waves.
  • How it works: Puppet marks the strongest enemy for increased incoming damage. Shadow Realm then gives every Magical unit a 25% Damage boost for 30 seconds, while Forbidden Teacher adds another local buff to Shadow, Crimson, and Flame Emperor.
  • Burst timing: Activate Shadow Realm before directing Piercing Crimson down the boss lane. Crimson repeatedly damages everything inside the line, while Flame Emperor clears surrounding enemies so the team can stay focused on the priority target.
  • Placement: Cluster the three Magical carries inside Forbidden Teacher's range. Puppet only needs reliable coverage of the strongest enemy and does not benefit from Magical-only buffs because Puppet uses Psychic attacks.
  • Weaknesses: Crimson stops regular attacking during Piercing Crimson, so a bad line wastes the main burst. Ramen Guy is also much less useful on very short stages.
  • Replacements: Elf Mage can replace Crimson for safer automatic AoE and better long-wave scaling. Salmon Sorcerer can replace Ramen Guy when immediate crowd control matters more than economy.

Austere Flames Burn Engine

A status-focused composition that turns Flame Emperor's Burn coverage into repeated Hollow damage.

Burn Synergy Expedition Challenge Mixed Damage

Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) Primary Burn applicator
Hollow Blaze Anime Expeditions unit

Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Universal damage amp
Salmon Sorcerer Grade 1 Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Slow / Stagger control
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Core requirement: Flame Emperor must consistently apply Burn to enemies while they are still inside Hollow's range.

  • Best for: Dense Story waves, Expedition Payload routes, long Challenges, and other modes where enemies remain grouped inside one kill zone.
  • How it works: Flame Emperor spreads Burn to nearby unburned enemies and can place Wall of Fire directly across a path. Hollow converts those Burn applications into Austere Flames when attacking burning enemies or when Burn finishes ticking inside his range.
  • Control layer: Salmon's Slow and inner-range Stagger keep enemies inside the shared Flame Emperor and Hollow coverage for longer. Shadow adds more Rewind and Stun utility, while Puppet amplifies damage against the strongest surviving target.
  • Important classification: Hollow is a Physical unit. Shadow Realm improves Shadow, Flame Emperor, and Salmon, but it does not buff Hollow or Puppet.
  • Weaknesses: Hollow loses most of the reason to use him when Flame Emperor is absent, badly placed, or under-upgraded. The mixed attack types also make Physical- or Magical-only buffers inefficient.
  • Replacements: Elf Mage can replace Shadow when you do not own the Secret unit. On short stages, replace Ramen Guy with Crimson for more immediate lane damage. If you remove Hollow entirely, Forbidden Teacher becomes a strong option for a more conventional Magical stack.

Physical Raid Carry Core

A Physical-focused boss team that performs best when a Raid supplies enough smaller enemies for 8th Sword to build takedown stacks.

The Hero Anime Expeditions unit
The Hero Physical damage buffer
Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Strongest-target amp
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Placement priority: Put Cursed Student closest to whichever upgraded Physical carry currently has the highest Damage.

  • Best for: Raids and boss stages that send regular enemies before or alongside the main target.
  • How it works: The Hero buffs 8th Sword, Cursed Student, and Lady Giant at the same time. Puppet Mark then makes the strongest enemy take increased incoming damage from the entire team, not only the Physical units.
  • Carry interaction: Every third Cursed Student attack copies the closest ally's attack. Once 8th Sword has built takedowns and permanent Damage, placing the two together gives Cursed Student a much stronger attack to copy.
  • Lane control: Lady Giant's two Stone Walls create extra attack time, while Puppet's Rewind can buy another cycle during a boss push.
  • Weaknesses: A pure boss stage with no smaller enemies delays 8th Sword's takedown scaling. Lady Giant's Giant Form also raises her SPA, so it should be treated as a burst form rather than an automatic permanent upgrade.
  • Replacements: Greed is a practical budget swap on a pure boss stage because of his Boss damage bonus. Scissor is another single-target option when she can repeatedly attack the same enemy. Reaper is better when the map contains several enemy types.

Infinite and High-Wave Scaling

A deliberately slow-starting team built around permanent scaling, enemy variety, economy, and crowd control.

Infinite Tournament Long Challenge Economy
8th Sword Berserk Anime Expeditions unit
8th Sword (Berserk) Takedown scaling
Elf Mage Unleashed Anime Expeditions unit

Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Universal amp / Rewind
Salmon Sorcerer Grade 1 Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Slow / Stagger
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Long-run economy

Win condition: Survive the early investment phase and let the three carries accumulate their permanent or repeatable scaling bonuses.

  • Best for: Infinite modes, long Tournament runs, and wave-based content that lasts long enough for permanent scaling to matter.
  • How it works: 8th Sword gains permanent Damage from takedowns, Elf Mage permanently increases Arcane Spell Damage after charge resets, and Reaper gains Damage and Critical Chance by attacking different enemy types.
  • Support structure: Puppet amplifies whichever high-HP enemy is currently strongest, Salmon keeps waves grouped inside the carry ranges, and Ramen Guy accelerates the expensive upgrade curve.
  • Strength: The composition has three separate scaling systems. It does not fall apart simply because one carry has a bad wave or targeting pattern.
  • Weaknesses: This team is overbuilt for short Story acts. Reaper also loses much of his ceiling on stages with very little enemy variety, while Ramen Guy eventually occupies a slot without providing direct late-wave damage.
  • Replacements: Replace Reaper with Shadow for more reliable burst on low-variety maps. Toy Maker can replace Ramen Guy when the run is already funded but needs more stalling.

String Sync Fast-Hit Team

A technical attack-volume composition designed to break String Demon's Cocoons before their five-second timer expires.

Cocoon Control Challenge Wave Modes High Setup
String Demon Awakened Anime Expeditions unit
String Demon (Awakened) Cocoon / String Sync
Cursed Student True Love Anime Expeditions unit

Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit
Puppet (Telekinetic) Damage amp / Rewind
Salmon Sorcerer Grade 1 Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Keeps targets in the hit zone
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Core requirement: The team must land ten hits on a Cocooned enemy within five seconds or the bonus Cocoon explosion is lost.

  • Best for: Long lanes, wave-based Challenges, and maps where several units can attack the same targets at once.
  • How it works: String Demon Cocoons enemies every fifth attack. Breaking a Cocoon with ten hits triggers an additional explosion, while String Sync can force linked allies to perform follow-up attacks.
  • Attack volume: Reaper's Critical Tempo can reduce his SPA, Cursed Student produces copied follow-up attacks, and the remaining units add enough overlapping attacks to make Cocoon breaks much more reliable than they would be in a slow heavy-hitter team.
  • Placement: Place Cursed Student beside whichever upgraded carry has the highest current Damage. Keep weaker supports farther away so Cursed Mimicry does not copy the wrong ally.
  • Weaknesses: The composition is placement-sensitive and has no single damage-type buffer. If enemies leave the shared range before ten hits land, String Demon loses both damage and control value.
  • Replacements: On short stages, replace Ramen Guy with Flame Emperor for more immediate attack coverage. Shadow can replace Puppet when you want stronger personal damage, summons, and Magical burst rather than Puppet's universal strongest-target amplification.

Expedition Payload Stall

A defensive multi-lane composition that creates extra attack time through Toys, Stone Walls, Slow, Stagger, Stun, and Rewind.

Crimson Brother Anime Expeditions unit

Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit

Map requirement: Toy Maker is most valuable from a position that reaches multiple paths, but each Toy's Health is divided between those paths.

  • Best for: Expedition Payload, leak-prone Story stages, and maps with several routes passing through one central area.
  • How it works: Toy Maker continuously sends blockers onto every path inside his range. Lady Giant adds two Stone Walls, creating several separate delays before enemies can reach the payload or exit.
  • Kill zone: Salmon should cover the entrance to the main damage area so enemies are Slowed and Staggered before reaching the blockers. Crimson then aims Piercing Crimson through the longest occupied lane, while Shadow supplies damage, summons, Stun, and Rewind.
  • Strength: This team wins by increasing effective attack time. Damage charts may make Toy Maker and Salmon look less important than they actually are during a close run.
  • Weaknesses: Toy Maker does not attack normally, and splitting his summons across several paths reduces individual Toy Health. A short single-lane stage may be cleared faster by replacing one staller with another carry.
  • Replacements: Puppet can replace Lady Giant when a boss requires more damage amplification than blocking. Flame Emperor can replace Crimson when packed waves are a larger problem than one concentrated lane.

No-Secret Burn Progression

A practical banner-based team for players who have several evolved Mythics but have not obtained Shadow or 8th Sword.

Salmon Sorcerer Grade 1 Anime Expeditions unit
Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) Crowd control
Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit
Ramen Guy Economy

Upgrade order: Establish Flame Emperor's Burn coverage before heavily investing in Hollow, because Hollow cannot create his own Burn setup.

  • Best for: Story progression, Challenges, Expeditions, and early endgame accounts without Secret or Exclusive units.
  • How it works: Flame Emperor and Hollow provide the main status synergy, while Elf Mage adds independent Line, Circle, and Full AoE attacks that become stronger after repeated charge resets.
  • Support: Puppet gives the mixed-damage team a universal strongest-target amplifier, Salmon keeps enemies inside the status and AoE zones, and Ramen Guy helps pay for several expensive evolved units.
  • Strength: The team covers waves, bosses, economy, control, and long-mode scaling without requiring a Secret unit.
  • Weaknesses: It still requires several evolved Mythics and therefore is not a true starter team. The mixed Physical, Magical, and Psychic classifications also prevent one type-specific buffer from improving the whole composition.
  • Budget replacements: Ice Queen can replace Puppet when you need cheaper Freeze control rather than damage amplification. An owned farm alternative such as Stone Alchemist can temporarily replace Ramen Guy. If you remove Hollow, Forbidden Teacher becomes more attractive because the remaining carries can form a more Magical-heavy cluster.

No-Secret Physical Progression

A safer Physical alternative that replaces 8th Sword's Secret-level scaling with three complementary Mythic carries.

Puppet Telekinetic Anime Expeditions unit

Ramen Guy Anime Expeditions unit

Core interaction: The Hero buffs all three Physical carries, while Puppet supplies the universal damage amplification that the team otherwise lacks.

  • Best for: Story progression, Raids with several enemy types, Challenges, and accounts that have not obtained 8th Sword.
  • How it works: The Hero buffs Cursed Student, Reaper, and Lady Giant. Cursed Student then copies the closest high-Damage ally, Reaper builds permanent bonuses from enemy variety, and Lady Giant adds AoE plus defensive walls.
  • Boss handling: Puppet Mark increases incoming damage to the strongest enemy, helping the three buffed carries focus down bosses without requiring another rare pure-DPS slot.
  • Placement: Place The Hero where all three Physical units fit inside his range. Cursed Student should still be closest to the strongest carry rather than closest to The Hero or Ramen Guy.
  • Weaknesses: Reaper is merely solid on low-variety maps, and Cursed Student's copied attack can fall off sharply when the wrong ally becomes the closest target. The team also lacks the global burst and summons supplied by Shadow.
  • Replacements: Scissor can replace Reaper on a concentrated single-target stage. Greed is a simpler boss-focused replacement, while Salmon Sorcerer can replace Ramen Guy when fast enemies or leaks are ending the run before the economy pays off.
