Anime Origins Tier List – Best Meta Units & Traits

Not every shiny Mythic deserves a spot at the top, and our Anime Origins tier list is here to sort that out.

Our Anime Origins tier list is where I'll separate the units that can carry you from the ones that are mostly there to look nice. Though, to be fair, this game has plenty of unique anime characters compared to your standard ATD lineup. We’ve ranked the best Anime Origins units and traits from S to C tier based on abilities, passives, stats, and overall value. I’ll keep updating the list as we test more units and learn the meta.

TL;DR Quick Summary: Valcrad (Unleashed), Madaro (Edo Tensei), and Cursed Lover (Pure Love) seem to be the best Anime Origins in the Anime Origins release meta, with Bluma (Data Analyst) being the easy farm pick.

Pre-release note: This Anime Origins tier list is based on currently available unit information and early kit details. Placements are preliminary and will change as full stats, upgrades, traits, elements, and other details become available.

As I’ve stated above, please keep in mind that this tier list is still in its very early stages and is a work in progress. The game has just launched, and I’m actively testing units as I pull them, while also taking the time to evolve and ascend them. That process will obviously take a while, so for now, the tier list above should be treated more as a rough assessment than a definitive, objective ranking.

RELATED: Anime Origins Discord, Trello & Wiki Links

So please, bear with me and make sure to come back over the weekend, as I’ll keep updating the list regularly while I play the game and learn how all the units perform across various game modes. With that said, here’s my early evaluation of some of the most important units in the game right now.

NOTE: This list focuses only on Secret, Mythic, and Exclusive units because those are, as we all know, the ones that are truly important and meta-worthy. When it comes to Legendary and Epic units, with a few exceptions, you’ll mostly use them only during the first hour or so of play, so they aren’t really worth including in the tier list and would only clog up the table.

UnitEvaluation
S Tier — Meta Units
Cursed Lover Pure Love Anime Origins
Cursed Lover (Pure Love)
Secret S Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
  • Copy is what makes Cursed Lover such a ridiculous unit. He can store up to four copyable Active Abilities, letting him adapt his kit around the strongest units on your team.
  • Lingering Queens Heads gives him consistent extra AOE damage, while Love Beam hits five times for a total of 300% Damage.
  • He combines top-tier damage with a level of flexibility that almost no other unit can match.
Valcrad Unleashed Anime Origins
Valcrad (Unleashed)
Secret S Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Rupture
  • Valcrad has pretty much everything you want from a late-game carry: Crit, Range scaling, bonus Damage, summons, and strong progression through Restriction Release.
  • Coffin Trap is especially nasty against bosses, locking one down for seven full seconds when it crosses the trap.
  • Rupture is a perfect fit because the extra Crit Chance feeds Third Eye more consistently while the Crit Damage boosts an already aggressive kit.
Madaro Edo Tensei Anime Origins
Madaro (Edo Tensei)
Secret S Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
  • Heaven's Pressure constantly adds extra AOE damage and Calamity procs to Madaro's normal rotation, making him excellent against packed waves.
  • Heaven Splitter is a ridiculous 500% Damage active that can reach up to three times his normal Range.
  • Yasaka Beads punish anything that escapes his Range and can Stun low-health enemies, while Sosano Ribcage gives him valuable protection from Crowd Control.
Bon Purgatory Anime Origins
Bon (Purgatory)
Mythic S Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Hustler
  • The Sin of Greed gives Bon 50% more Income whenever he gets a kill, so he already brings serious economy value before you even touch his support kit.
  • An Unexpected Chef gives you a random meal every wave that can be handed to another unit for Damage, Cooldown, Range, or Crit buffs.
  • Hustler doubles down on the reason you bring Bon in the first place, adding another huge Income boost while also improving his Range.
Tango Star of Festivals Anime Origins
Tango (Star of Festivals)
Mythic S Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Stride
  • Musical Score stacks -4% Cooldown per attack up to four times, and maintaining max tempo makes Tango inflict Brittle, increasing damage taken from all sources by 10%.
  • Flashy Combo deals 350% Damage and Stuns a single target for 15 seconds, which is absurd boss-control value.
  • Stride fits his entire game plan: more attack tempo means faster Musical Score stacking, better Brittle uptime, and even nastier sustained pressure.
Bluma Data Analyst Anime Origins
Bluma (Data Analyst)
Mythic S Tier Best Trait: Hustler
  • Bluma is one of the best farm units in Anime Origins. Allied kills inside her Range generate Training Data, gradually pushing her Income bonus higher.
  • The final checkpoint reaches +30% Income at 380 Data, which becomes extremely valuable in longer modes.
  • Hustler is the obvious roll here, stacking even more Income on top of the reason you're using Bluma.
A Tier — Very Good Units
Melio Assault Anime Origins
Melio (Assault)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
  • The Absorbed Commandments turns Melio into one of the most versatile hybrid units in the game, rotating through a new Commandment every 10 seconds.
  • His effects include pullback, Petrification, Burn, Slow, 50% Magic or Physical Resistance reduction, and team buffs to Damage and Range.
  • Patience also gives him +150% Damage at the cost of slower attacks. He doesn't have one fixed role, but that's exactly what makes him so useful.
Zeldo Piety Anime Origins
Zeldo (Piety)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Ascendant
  • Demon King's Blood gives Zeldo +25% Damage and +15% Crit Chance whenever a Boss is alive, making him a natural boss killer.
  • Brother's Rivalry becomes ridiculous when paired with Melio: every kill Melio gets inside Zeldo's Range gives Zeldo +2% Damage for the rest of the wave, up to +50%.
  • Ascendant pushes his boss-killing niche even further with another massive Boss Damage bonus plus regular Damage and Range.
Goki Super 3 Anime Origins
Goki (Super 3)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Ascendant
  • I'll End This Quickly! gives Goki +25% Damage against enemies above 80% HP, increased to +40% against Bosses, so he chunks fresh high-priority targets immediately.
  • One Shot at This builds up to +20% Damage through Fighting Spirit, then triggers Overdrive for another +15% Damage and +15% Crit Chance for 15 seconds.
  • Instant Transmission is excellent utility on top of that, letting you reposition Goki or another unit. Ascendant is my favorite trait for leaning even harder into his boss-burst role.
Gyutari Upper Moon Anime Origins
Gyutari (Upper Moon)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Decay
  • Death From Afar generates Blood Cuts as enemies die within Gyutari's Range and unleashes them in batches once he reaches four projectiles.
  • The Blood Cuts automatically split between weaker targets, stronger enemies, and bosses, giving him excellent extra AOE pressure.
  • Decay is tailor-made for him: the DoT boost directly improves his Bleed, while Cooldown and Range are useful everywhere.
Sosuke Eternal Anime Origins
Sosuke (Eternal)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Decay
  • Sosuke builds Hatred with every attack and switches between Lightning and Amaterasu modes once fully charged.
  • Lightning Mode stacks up to +25% Damage and -10% Cooldown, while Amaterasu applies Black Flame for consistent Burn damage.
  • After three mode cycles he drops a 200% AOE Sosano attack. Decay is especially good here because it buffs Black Flame while also improving Cooldown and Range.
Noroto Linked Anime Origins
Noroto (Linked)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Stride
  • Nine-Tails' Cloak is a strong recurring power spike, giving Noroto +25% Damage, -20% Cooldown, and +15% Range for 20 seconds.
  • While transformed, every third attack releases a chakra burst for 50% Damage in a small AOE.
  • Stride lets him squeeze more attacks and therefore more Tailed Beast Barrage procs into those Cloak windows, which is exactly what you want from him.
Yoto Calamity Anime Origins
Yoto (Calamity)
Limited A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
  • Forgotten Individual rewards Yoto for farming kills, granting +5% Damage every 25 enemies defeated up to +30%.
  • Severance Mark stores part of the damage Yoto deals to a marked enemy, starting at 18% and increasing with repeated hits up to 30%.
  • Overseer is the safest high-end roll because it improves her raw Damage, Cooldown, and Range while adding True Damage on top of an already scaling kit.
Starku Primordial Anime Origins
Starku (Primordial)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
  • Lone Gunslinger gives Starku +10% Damage and +10% Range as long as you don't crowd other units too close to him.
  • Gun Smoke applies a 15% Slow for three seconds, and Starku deals another +15% Damage to Slowed targets.
  • His placement needs a little planning, but once he has room to work, Overseer gives him the best all-around mix of Damage, Cooldown, Range, and True Damage.
Itsugo Unleashed Anime Origins
Itsugo (Unleashed)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Ascendant
  • Number One makes Itsugo's first hit against every enemy deal 20% extra Damage, increased to 30% against Elites and Bosses.
  • The Power to Protect increases his Damage the farther an enemy has progressed along the path, scaling all the way up to +50%.
  • Ascendant complements his role nicely by making his Elite/Boss pressure even nastier while also giving him extra general Damage and Range.
Igritto Commander Anime Origins
Igritto (Commander)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Stride
  • Igritto generates Crimson Overload through attacks and enters Frenzy once he reaches 300 Overload.
  • During Frenzy he switches to rapid line slashes, and entering the state grants +35% Damage and -20% Cooldown, with those buffs lingering for another 20 seconds.
  • Stride is a natural fit because faster attacking helps him build Overload sooner and get back to his strongest state more often.
Mykie Toman Anime Origins
Mykie (Toman)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
  • Dark Impulses activates every 30 seconds for 15 seconds, giving Mykie +25% Damage and -25% Cooldown during the powered-up window.
  • Charismatic Leader turns him into a useful support from Team Slot 1, giving allies inside his Range up to +10% Damage as enemies are defeated.
  • Overseer works best as the all-rounder here, strengthening both his normal rotation and already excellent Dark Impulses windows.
Tojei Sorcerer Killer Anime Origins
Tojei (Sorcerer Killer)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
Aneko Queen Anime Origins
Aneko (Queen)
Mythic A Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
B Tier — Decent Units
Vegita Super Anime Origins
Vegita (Super)
Mythic B Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Rupture
  • I'll Surpass You gives Vegita +25% Crit Chance whenever Goki is inside his Range, so the two are clearly designed to be played together.
  • Final Stand builds Resolve whenever an enemy survives one of his attacks. At five stacks, Vegita gains +25% Damage and -15% SPA for 10 seconds.
  • Rupture makes the Goki synergy much more threatening by piling on even more Crit Chance and a large Crit Damage bonus.
Shinoru Butterfly Dance Anime Origins
Shinoru (Butterfly Dance)
Mythic B Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Decay
  • Adaptive Venom constantly changes the strength of Shinoru's Poison, adding between 0% and 20% extra damage every time it is applied.
  • Toxic Precision makes every Poison application also inflict Wound, reducing healing received from all sources by 80%.
  • Decay is easily her best fit, adding +40% DoT Damage while also giving her better Cooldown and Range.
Goju Honored One Anime Origins
Goju (Honored One)
Mythic B Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer
  • Infinity nullifies attacks directed at Goju, making him extremely difficult for enemies to disrupt.
  • Infinity Expansion Slows enemies by 30% for six seconds after they remain inside his Range for six seconds.
  • His control is useful, especially against tougher enemies, and Overseer is the best general trait for adding the offensive stats his passive kit doesn't provide on its own.
Roxi Mage Anime Origins
Roxi (Mage)
Mythic B Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Stride
  • Aquamancy applies Drenched every second attack, Slowing enemies by 15% and making them take +10% Magic Damage.
  • Drenched also makes Freeze last 50% longer, while Magic Teacher gives Magic Damage units inside Roxi's Range another +5% Damage.
  • Stride is ideal on her because more attacks mean more Drenched applications, while the extra Range helps her cover more of the team and lane.
Konpatchi Unleashed Anime Origins
Konpatchi (Unleashed)
Mythic B Tier Best Trait: Immortal or Overseer

Best Anime Origins Traits Tier List

Trait Evaluation
S Tier — Best Traits
Immortal
Secret S Tier
  • Secret chance: 0.1%
  • Secret pool rate: 100%
  • Pity: 1300
  • +200% Damage
  • -15% Cooldown
  • +20% Range
  • +25% Income
  • Placement Limit: 1
  • The clear jackpot trait. +200% Damage alone puts Immortal in another league before accounting for Cooldown, Range, and Income.
  • Its special effect can instantly kill nearby non-boss enemies, while other enemies are knocked back and Slowed. It activates once per match after Wave 10.
  • Only one unit per team can have Immortal, but if you roll it on a premium carry, you're probably done rerolling that unit for a very long time.
Overseer
Mythic S Tier
  • Mythic chance: 4.05%
  • Mythic pool rate: 4.1%
  • Pity: 900
  • +20% Damage
  • -5% Cooldown
  • +10% Range
  • +30% bonus True Damage
  • The strongest conventional Mythic trait for a general DPS carry.
  • You get Damage, Cooldown, and Range with no downside, plus bonus True Damage equal to 30% of damage dealt.
  • Overseer doesn't require a specific build or mechanic to work, which makes it one of the safest best-in-slot rolls in the game.
Rupture
Mythic S Tier
  • Mythic chance: 4.05%
  • Mythic pool rate: 12.5%
  • Pity: 550
  • +30% Crit Chance
  • +35% Crit Damage
  • An absurd offensive roll for units that can make good use of Crit.
  • +30% Crit Chance dramatically improves consistency, while +35% Crit Damage pushes the payoff even further.
  • It loses some universal value on units whose kits don't care about Crit, but on the right carry Rupture has legitimate best-in-slot potential.
Decay
Mythic S Tier
  • Mythic chance: 4.05%
  • Mythic pool rate: 16.5%
  • Pity: 425
  • +40% DoT Damage
  • -10% Cooldown
  • +10% Range
  • Potentially the premier trait for Bleed, Burn, Poison, or other DoT-focused units.
  • Even before the huge +40% DoT bonus matters, -10% Cooldown and +10% Range are excellent general stats.
  • It's more specialized than Overseer, but the right unit can squeeze enormous value out of all three bonuses.
Ascendant
Mythic S Tier
  • Mythic chance: 4.05%
  • Mythic pool rate: 19%
  • Pity: 325
  • +35% Boss Damage
  • +10% Damage
  • +10% Range
  • A fantastic boss-killing trait thanks to its massive +35% Boss Damage bonus on top of +10% regular Damage.
  • The additional Range makes it even easier for your carry to stay on bosses for longer portions of the map.
  • It isn't as dominant during ordinary wave clearing, but for boss-focused content Ascendant can be one of the best traits available.
A Tier — Excellent Traits
Hustler
Mythic A Tier
  • Mythic chance: 4.05%
  • Mythic pool rate: 22%
  • Pity:
  • +15% Range
  • +30% Income
  • The obvious premium economy trait and potentially S tier on dedicated farm units.
  • +30% Income is the main attraction, while +15% Range is a useful bonus rather than dead weight.
  • Don't waste its potential on a pure DPS unit if you have an economy unit that can actually exploit the Income bonus.
Stride
Mythic A Tier
  • Mythic chance: 4.05%
  • Mythic pool rate: 14.5%
  • Pity: 475
  • -10% Damage
  • -10% Cooldown
  • +5% Range
  • Tempo: -2% Cooldown per stack, up to -20%
  • Max Tempo: +10% Range
  • Tempo resets after 5 seconds without attacking.
  • Stride trades some raw Damage for potentially ridiculous attack frequency once Tempo gets rolling.
  • At full stacks, the additional -20% Cooldown combines with its base -10%, making this extremely attractive on units that attack continuously.
  • Its weakness is downtime: if the unit goes five seconds without attacking, Tempo disappears and you have to build it again.
Joker
Mythic A Tier
  • Mythic chance: 4.05%
  • Mythic pool rate: 11.4%
  • Pity: 700
  • +5% Damage
  • -5% Cooldown
  • +5% Range
  • Every wave, each stat receives a random 0%-25% modifier.
  • Wave modifiers do not carry over.
  • Joker has excellent upside but sacrifices consistency for it.
  • The baseline Damage, Cooldown, and Range bonuses are already useful, then every wave can randomly push the unit much further.
  • Strong enough to keep, but the RNG factor makes it harder to rank alongside the completely reliable top Mythics.
Ace
Legendary A Tier
  • Legendary chance: 9%
  • Legendary pool rate: 20%
  • +10% Damage
  • -5% Cooldown
  • +10% Range
  • Probably the best general-purpose Legendary trait.
  • All three bonuses matter on almost every conventional DPS unit, with no gimmicks or requirements attached.
  • A great stopping point if you don't want to burn hundreds of rerolls chasing a Mythic.
Nimble
Legendary A Tier
  • Legendary chance: 9%
  • Legendary pool rate: 18.5%
  • -20% Cooldown
  • A simple trait, but -20% Cooldown is an enormous single-stat improvement.
  • Particularly strong on units whose damage, status effects, or passives scale directly with attack frequency.
  • It lacks Ace's rounded stat package, but the raw Cooldown reduction can easily be more valuable on the right carry.
Head Hunter
Epic A Tier
  • Epic chance: 30%
  • Epic pool rate: 25%
  • +20% Crit Chance
  • +25% Crit Damage
  • Basically a budget Rupture, and that's a pretty good thing to be.
  • The combination of Crit Chance and Crit Damage can outperform many straightforward stat traits on Crit-friendly units.
  • For an Epic trait, Head Hunter offers remarkably strong offensive value.
Looting
Legendary A Tier
  • Legendary chance: 9%
  • Legendary pool rate: 11.5%
  • +20% Income
  • A specialized economy trait that becomes extremely valuable when rolled on a unit whose job is making money.
  • It's essentially the budget version of Hustler, trading Hustler's +30% Income and Range for a still-impressive +20% Income.
  • On a normal DPS unit, however, you should usually reroll it.
B Tier — Strong & Situational
Hawkeye
Legendary B Tier
  • Legendary chance: 9%
  • Legendary pool rate: 25%
  • +30% Range
  • +30% Range is massive and can dramatically improve map coverage and effective uptime.
  • The problem is that Hawkeye provides no direct Damage or Cooldown improvement.
  • Great on units where coverage matters, but less attractive than offensive Legendary options for a primary carry.
Haste III
Epic B Tier
  • Epic chance: 30%
  • Epic pool rate: 25%
  • -12.5% Cooldown
  • A strong universally useful Epic roll.
  • More attacks generally means more DPS and more frequent passive or status activations.
  • It's basically Nimble-lite and perfectly usable until you're ready to chase something rarer.
Fury III
Epic B Tier
  • Epic chance: 30%
  • Epic pool rate: 25%
  • +15% Damage
  • No tricks here: Fury III simply gives you 15% more Damage.
  • Reliable and useful on almost any offensive unit, especially early in progression.
  • Good enough to keep temporarily, but Mythic and Legendary traits offer much higher ceilings.
Reach III
Epic B Tier
  • Epic chance: 30%
  • Epic pool rate: 25%
  • +15% Range
  • A respectable Range boost that helps units cover more of the lane and attack for longer.
  • Its value depends heavily on the map and the unit's starting Range.
  • Useful, but generally less impactful than direct offensive traits.
Scholar
Legendary B Tier
  • Legendary chance: 9%
  • Legendary pool rate: 25%
  • +50% EXP
  • Scholar is excellent for progression rather than actual combat performance.
  • +50% EXP can save a lot of grinding while leveling units, so there is real utility here.
  • Once a unit is leveled and you're optimizing the endgame, Scholar becomes an obvious reroll candidate.
C Tier — Usable Early Rolls
Haste II
Rare C Tier
  • Rare chance: 50%
  • Rare pool rate: 7.33%
  • -7.5% Cooldown
A useful early Cooldown roll, but ultimately just a stepping stone toward Haste III, Nimble, or one of the premium Mythics.
Fury II
Rare C Tier
  • Rare chance: 50%
  • Rare pool rate: 7.33%
  • +10% Damage
A perfectly respectable temporary Damage boost, but there are too many stronger offensive options to settle for it long term.
Reach II
Rare C Tier
  • Rare chance: 50%
  • Rare pool rate: 7.34%
  • +10% Range
A modest Range increase that can help awkward placements, but it lacks the impact needed for a serious endgame trait.
D Tier — Reroll
Haste I
Rare D Tier
  • Rare chance: 50%
  • Rare pool rate: 26%
  • -5% Cooldown
Better than having nothing, but -5% Cooldown is far too small to justify keeping once you have rerolls available.
Fury I
Rare D Tier
  • Rare chance: 50%
  • Rare pool rate: 26%
  • +5% Damage
A tiny Damage bump that's fine on your first few units but should be replaced as soon as you're seriously optimizing a build.
Reach I
Rare D Tier
  • Rare chance: 50%
  • Rare pool rate: 26%
  • +5% Range
The weakest Range roll in the pool. It technically helps, but there is almost never a reason to intentionally keep it.

So there you have it, my preliminary Anime Origins Tier List for the release meta.
