The Second Sea gives you a fresh start and brings back that exquisite feeling of early-day Fisch grinding. However, the rod progression and best farming locations aren't as intuitive as they used to be in the First Sea. So, to help you, here is our complete Fisch Second Sea progression guide.
Fisch Second Sea Best Rod & Island Progression

To enter the Second Sea, you'll first have to be Level 200+, which means you will have a fair amount of hours in Fisch already and a few good rods, hopefully. The First Sea rods are the ones you want to be using in the Second Sea as well, at least in the early game. They are just better than the first few Seond Sea Rods. With that in mind, here is the optimal rod and island progression for the Second Sea in Fisch:

- Enter the Second Sea and start fishing with your First Sea rod at Waveborne or in the Open Ocean until you save up 70-100k E$.
- Do not use the Adventurer's Rod; it's garbage.
- Do not buy any of the Waveborne rods (Wildflower, Firefly, Frog), as all of their stats are probably not as good as the First Sea rod you already have.
- The Frog Rod might be viable if you have something as bad as the Aurora Rod from the First Sea. Still, it's 650kg weight limit basically forces you to fish only at Pine Shoals, which is one of the worst farming locations in the Second Sea in general.

- Buy either the Blazebringer Rod (70k E$) or the Azure of Lagoon Rod (100k E$) and continue farming in the Open Ocean.
- Check out our Second Sea rod locations and stats list for info on where to get the rods.
- The Verdant Shear Rod is also viable, and it doesn't require Resilient like the Blazebringer to be a solid money-making rod.
- Enchant the Blazebringer Rod with Resilient in the First Sea to make it's passive viable. With the second stage of it's ability active, it might even be the best money-making rod in the Fisch's Second Sea.
- Hasty is probably the best enchant for the Azure of Lagoon Rod and it's a solid all-around rod with a stab passive. It's also the best rod for catching the Sea Leviathan in the Second Sea.

- Continue farming around all the islands until you save up 200k E$, and then buy the Free Spirit Rod (you'll need more than 70% Second Sea bestiary completion as well).
- Free Spirit Rod is the overall best money-making Second Sea rod in Fisch right now and also has a stab passive.
- Enchant it with Hasty or Abyssal for better money-making.
- (Optional) Continue farming and buy the Great Dreamer Rod (500k E$).
- This Second Sea rod has fairly bad stats, though the money-making passive is okay, and it can get it to 100% Lure Speed with Hasty/Swift.
Best Locations for Farming Money & EXP in the Second Sea

The best money and EXP farming location in the Second Sea right now is the Open Ocean. It has plenty of high-weight, expensive fish, including the ~4,000kg Sea Leviathan, which sells for ~14,000 E$. Other good farming spots are The Cursed Shores, Waveborne, and Isle of New Beginnings.
Best First Sea Rods to Use in the Second Sea in Fisch

The best rods to use during the early part of your Second Sea progression in Fisch are actually the OP ones you can get in the First Sea. The Lure Speed of all First Sea Rods while in the Second Sea is set to 1%, and all other stats are 50% lower, except for enchant buffs, which are 100% effective.
So, the best rods are the ones that have the best possible other stats except for Lure Speed and a solid money-making passive. In the table below, we compiled a list of the best First Sea rods to use in the Second Sea, including their pros and cons.
