To start the quest, head towards the Laboratory POI inside the game at GPS (-1785, 130, -485). This is located towards the north side of Roslit Bay. Use the climbing pole to reach the main platform. Here, go towards the right side of the platform to find Doug, the Thief NPC, next to a large red+ white circular pillar at GPS (-1863, 224, -600).
Interact with him, and you will find out that he had robbed the Laboratory and only found geeky/nerdy stuff on the island.
