Adopt Me! allows players like you and I to adopt and customize tons of unique and adorable pets, some of which are rarer and "worth" more than others. Because some of these pets are so highly-sought after, they can even be sold on third-party websites like StarPets for real money.
What is StarPets.gg?
StarPets is an unofficial, third-party trading website that allows you to browse through hundreds of Adopt Me! pets and eggs and then purchase the ones you want with real money that you have deposited into your StarPets account. The pets and eggs listed on this website range in price, but they're typically sold for extremely low amounts of money. The way this website works is by attaching the pets/eggs you've purchased to a bot account, and then sending that bot to meet you in a private Adopt Me! server. Once there, you will be able to meet the bot and trade with them to receive the pets/eggs you purchased.
Is StarPets.gg safe to use or a scam?
StarPets.gg is a bit of an enigma of a website, because while it does do what it advertises, and it properly warns the player of the possible issues that could come from using it, it's still a website that's known for its scams and failed trades. In StarPets' defense, however, these scams do not technically have anything to do with the reliability of the website itself or its process, the scams come from other real players manipulating the website and its users.
There have been numerous cases of StarPets users getting scammed by other players, but one could argue that that's not a reflection of the safety of the website, it's a reflection of the naivety of the users, and the toxicity of the scamming players. When a StarPets scam happens, it's normally committed by a player who hangs around in private lobbies that are used for StarPets trades, pretending to be a bot that a buying user is either "talking to" or has come to meet. The player pretending to be the bot then tells the buying user to trade them certain pets so they can receive what they purchased, and then disappears, stealing the buying user's pets and never returning.
That then begs the question of whether or not StarPets is at fault for the scam, or if it's just something users should be aware of when buying/trading. Before pairing with a bot on StarPets and then adding them as a friend on Roblox to join their private Adopt Me! server, the buying user receives numerous advisories/warnings that depict how to spot a real StarPets bot vs. a scammer. These advisories include:
- Please note that our bots do not stand in one place, but run in a circle.
- Our bots send a security code in every trade. Always compare the code on the website and the code sent by bots in the game.
- Carefully compare the nickname of the bot in the game and the nickname on the site.
- It may turn out that bot is broken and is not on the server. Some players may pretend to be a bot and scam you.
- We are not responsible if you were scammed by a player pretending to be a bot. Be careful.
From the research I've done, it seems as though the scams that players have encountered/reported on while using StarPets come from other players scamming them, not the website itself. With that being said, however, using StarPets does go against Roblox Terms of Service, and Adopt Me!'s rules, so even if you complete a purchase/trade successfully with a bot, and you receive your new pets/eggs without a scam issue, you're still at risk for an account ban or termination just for using the site in the first place.
If you choose to continue and take the risk, always use an alternate account when interacting with the bots, and then simply trade what you get from the alt account to your main account at a later time. That way if you do receive a warning or punishment, you don't have to worry about losing anything on the main account you play on.

Should I use StarPets.gg?
At the end of the day, the decision of whether or not you should use StarPets is totally up to you. In my opinion, as long as you stay very aware of what you're doing and who/what you're interacting with, you shouldn't have any issues with scamming on the site, but I still wouldn't recommend using it personally. If you do choose to use it, just be sure to never give out any personal information, including your Roblox password.
