Popular Roblox experience Adopt Me! teams up with GOSH Charity to raise awareness for childhood illness

Adopt a new pet for a good cause.

Following the success of previous virtual fundraisers and awareness campaigns, such as the Guacathon event that celebrated the life of Joaquin "Guac" Oliver and highlighted the importance of gun safety, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity has joined the Roblox Metaverse to continue and de-stigmatize the discussion that surrounds childhood illness. To help welcome this charity to the Metaverse, popular role play experience Adopt Me! has created a unique and limited-time event that goes live at 10am CT on November 10, 2022.

During this event, players can interact with Patty, a therapy dog who serves as GOSH Charity's furry representative and accept a quest to heal their sick pets or babies three times. Upon completing this quest and speaking to Patty again, players will unlock a free Labrador Therapy Dog pet of their own that they can add to their collection. Patty will be leaving Adopt Me! on November 17, 2022, so interested players are encouraged to complete her quest and unlock the free pet sooner rather than later.

Beyond adding a GOSH Charity-themed pet and event to their experience, the team at Adopt Me! has also made a donation of just over $56,000 USD to the GOSH Charity itself, which will equate to over 2,000 hours of activities for the children staying at GOSH. Users can also make personal donations to GOSH Charity by visiting its donation page at any time or between November 7, 2022, and November 13, 2022, taking part in the Tiltify Streaming Week event that invites users to host a charity livestream and direct all received donations to the GOSH Charity. So far, this event has raised $14,800 USD of its $23,330 USD goal.

With these donations, GOSH aims to improve the lives of children and young adults across the globe. Located in London, United Kingdom, the Great Ormond Street Hospital sees nearly 600 patients every day from various parts of the world and completes a variety of life-changing medical procedures and treatments. At the time of this article's publication, GOSH is the largest center for children's heart surgery in the UK and one of the world's largest centers for general heart transplantation, with the hospital being credited as the creator of the first heart and lung bypass machine for children.

Though this hospital does receive funding from the National Health Service (NHS) for its general upkeep, it relies heavily on donations from the community to maintain and grow all of its possible services, such as providing uninterrupted and unconditional family care, contributing to a multitude of key medical studies, and developing the GOSH center itself. Through collaborations like the Adopt Me! event, GOSH can continue spreading awareness for its cause within a new generation of children and young people who will eventually become future doctors, surgeons, anthropologists, activists, and community members that make charities like GOSH possible.
