Starting Out in Prospecting Roblox

The gameplay of Prospecting boils down to digging up dirt and then panning it in a river to extract ore and minerals, which you then sell to make money. The digging and panning parts are both fairly simple mini-games that you'll master very quickly. Talk to the John NPC in the starting town to get tutorial quests, which will take you through the mini-games, selling ore, buying new gear, and other basics.

How All the Stats Work in Prospecting Roblox

What stats do in the Prospecting Roblox experience

The most important thing to know as a new player, which Prospecting won't explicitly explain, is how each stat works. There are multiple stats that affect both the digging and the panning mini-games, and understanding how they work and scale will help you decide what gear to equip, what items to craft, and which enchants to use. So, here is what each stat does in Prospecting, ordered by their importance:

  1. Luck: Luck is the most important stat in Prospecting. It affects the chance of you finding rarer minerals. It scales linearly (a player with 500 Luck will have 10x the chance for rarer minerals compared to a player with 50 Luck).
  2. Capacity: Capacity isn't that crucial early on, but once you stack up enough Dig STR and SPD, it becomes a very good investment. It affects the average number of ores you will get in a full pan, as well as their size.
    • NOTE: For pans, the number of ores is equal to the square root of your Capacity (400 Capacity = 20 Ores on average). For sluices, the number represents exactly how many ores you'll get.
  3. Toughness: Toughness is the main property of your shovel. It affects which areas you can mine in. Higher values are needed for the best areas.
  4. Dig Strength: Dig Strength affects how much ore you scoop with your shovel each time. It's fairly important throughout the game, as it increases your overall grinding speed.
  5. Shake Strength: Shake Strength is as important as Dig STR. It affects how much progress you'll get with each shake during the shaking mini-game.
    • NOTE: If you don't have enough of it early on, enchants (Forceful and Destructive) are a good way to get it.
  6. Shake Speed: Shake Speed is as important as Shake Strength and easier to stack early on. It affects the minimum cooldown between each shake during the shaking mini-game.
  7. Dig Speed: Dig Speed is relatively important. It affects how quickly the pointer moves during the digging mini-game.
    • NOTE: On your shovel, this is the base value that is then multiplied by the speed bonuses from crafted items and other sources.
  8. Size Boost: Size Boost is a multiplier that, together with Capacity, will determine the average weight of the items you get. Bigger ores mean more money and better quality if you use them for crafting.
  9. Modifier Boost: Modifier Boost affects how often the ore you pan will have mutations and how good they'll be. Similarly to size, this does affect the quality during crafting.
  10. Sell Boost: Sell Boost is important early on, but as you get all the best gear, it becomes fairly unimportant. Unless you're going to reforge items a lot, you don't really need to worry about stacking it.

Pans, Shovels, and Sluices in Prospecting Roblox

Pans, shovels, and sluices are your basic gear in Prospecting. Generally, sluices are the least important of the three, and there is little point in buying or using them. Shovels and pans scale with price, and you can just buy each one of them as you get the money. However, there are a few shovels you can skip for a bit quicker progress:

  • Silver Shovel: Is very expensive and doesn't offer much better stats than the Steel Shovel.
  • Golden Shovel: Also very expensive and not that much better than The Excavator.
  • Diamond Shovel: Barely better than the Meteoric Shovel and also underperformed by it if you have any extra Dig SPD. Just go straight for the Divine Shovel and skip this one.

How to Enchant Pans in Prospecting Roblox

In Prospecting, you can gain a bit of extra stats by enchanting your pan. For that, you'll mostly use Aurorite (Aetherite is also a more expensive option, though it makes no difference on the roll chances). To enchant your pan, go to the Mysterious Altar in the center of the map, and interact with the table in the middle while holding an appropriate ore. You can enchant over and over again until you get the desired enchant.

Best Enchants

NOTE: Check out our enchanting guide to see all the stats that the enchants provide.

  • Blessed: Gives both Luck and Capacity, which are the most important for the end-game.
  • Midas: Gives extra Sell Boost, which is especially good for grinding early on. It becomes pointless later, though.
  • Titanic: Gives extra Capacity and Size Boost, which are good for getting big ores for crafting.
  • Destructive: Increases a lot of Shake Strength, which is super good early on.
  • Forceful: The best Shake Strength enchant for the early game because it's really easy to get.
  • Gigantic: Arguably the best enchant for the end-game. It gives double the Capacity of Blessed/Titanic, which is often better than 10 extra Luck or +20% Size Boost.

How to Craft and Reforge Items in Prospecting Roblox

In Prospecting, you can craft items by interacting with one of the anvils at the major towns in the game. You can then equip the gear you craft from the Equipment tab in your inventory (1 Neck, 1 Charm, 6-8 Rings). This gear will be your main source of stats later in the game. The recipes for each item require money and ores, which you'll need to dig up. You can learn more about crafting in our ultimate Prospecting crafting guide. If you just want some basic tips and tricks regarding crafting, here they are:

Pro Crafting Tips

  • The quality of crafted items depends on the weight and value of the ores used.
  • Save the heaviest ores you find to use them for crafting. They'll help you craft 5★ items.
  • If you use very heavy low-rarity recipe ores, you'll be able to get a 5★ item even if the other crafting components are very light.
  • It's best to craft only 5★ items, especially if they have very cheap crafting components.
  • When picking out items, you can overshoot regarding the necessary mineral quality. So, once you get a 5★ quality projection, test out different combinations so that you use as few high-quality minerals as possible. You can then use those for other crafts or sell them for money.
  • If you need a rare mineral to craft multiple items, don't waste it on crafting one of the bad ones.

Best Early Game Items to Craft

TypeBest Items
RingRuby Ring: Gives you Luck, which is the most important stat.
Meteor Ring: The extra Dig and Shake STR will speed you up by a lot.
Moon Ring: Gives both Luck and Dig/Shake SPD. Plus, it's really easy to craft.
Heart of the Ocean: Hard to craft but, is by far better than the Moon Ring.
NeckTopaz Necklace: The best early game necklace stats-wise.
Opal Amulet: Easy to craft and gives you both Luck and Modifier Boost.
Mass Accumulator: The extra Capacity and Size Boost will generate more money.
CharmLapis Armband: Gives you Luck and Dig/Shake SPD, which are all great.
Gravity Coil: The extra capacity is great if you have enough Dig STR.
Crown: The best sub-mythic charm in the game.

There are quest NPCs around the whole map in Prospecting, and the quests they give are often easy to complete and extremely rewarding. You'll recognize them by the green question marks floating above their heads. Interact with each one and accept their quests to start making progress on them. There is no limit on how many quests you can take at a time.

How Totems & Meteor Shards Work in Prospecting Roblox

In Prospecting, as you complete quests, redeem codes, and pan ore (with high luck or during Meteor Shover events), you'll get Meteor Shards. These shards will be displayed on the bottom right of your screen, and you can use them at the Shard Merchant in the town to buy Totems. These totems can be activated to give every player in their vicinity x2 Strength or x2 Luck. Generally, you'll always want to prospect in places where there are totems.

Miscellaneous Prospecting Roblox Tips and Tricks

There are some tips and tricks that'll help you immensely in Prospecting, but they aren't worth writing whole paragraphs about. Here is a short list of the most useful tips to know, as well as some extra info regarding certain game mechanics:

  • Friend Bonus: Each friend on the same server will give you a +10% Luck bonus, which stacks up to +50%. It's super important to exploit this. If you added people while on the server, you'll need to rejoin it to refresh the boost.
  • Potions: You can buy potions for both money and Meteor Shards at the shop in the town.
    • Capacity potions are more important, especially later on. So, make sure to buy them.
    • Buying multiple potions extends their duration.
    • Potions and other boosts pause when you exit the game and resume when you rejoin.
  • Server Hopping: You can hop servers until you find a Meteor Shover (x2 Luck). It's the best way to grind if you have limited time to play.
  • Locking Items: Lock ores in your backpack to save them for crafting, especially Legendary and Mythic ones.
  • Exploring The Map: Pan in each area to fill the collection and get Meteor Shards from it.

Prospecting Roblox FAQ

What are the best gamepasses to buy in Prospecting?

The gamepasses with the biggest payoffs are all the non-consumable ones: Sell Anywhere, More Ring Slots, 2x Shards, and Crafter's Luck. Of all these, 2x Shards is the least important one.

What is the most important stat in Prospecting?

Luck is by far the most important stat in the game, as it scales linearly and always pays off. However, if you already have a lot of luck, getting some Capacity as well will make your grind a lot better.

What ores are worth keeping in Prospecting?

Generally, only Legendary and Mythic ores are worth keeping. However, you can save Epic ones as well, especially early on, to craft all the good early-game items.

How do multipliers stack in Prospecting?

Multipliers that say x2 convert to a +100% value increase. Multipliers for the same stat will always be additive, so an x2 (+100%) and an x1.5 (+50%) multiplier will total a +150% value increase.

How exactly does Luck work in Prospecting?

• The rarity of the item you get is based on a randomly rolled number; the lower the number, the rarer the item.
Each point of Luck is the number of times the value will be rerolled, with the final value being the lowest of all the rolled numbers.
Example: Luck: 5 → Rolls: (4, 4, 3, 4, 2) → Final Roll: 2
• Luck has a set chance to either be weakened or not apply at all for each individual item. This is so common items don't become unobtainable at very high Luck.

And that does it for our ultimate beginner's guide for the Prospecting Roblox experience.
