After Turkey's recent ban on Roblox, Turkish kids aren't just sitting around—they're hitting the streets protesting to get their favorite game back. A recent TikTok video blew up showing Turkish kids chanting “Roblox Geri Gelsin” which translates to “Roblox come back.” They’re out there loud and clear asking the government to rethink the ban and let them play again.
If you missed the news, the Turkish government banned Roblox on August 7, 2024, over concerns about child exploitation and safety issues. Instagram got banned too, but that didn’t last long before access was restored.
As you might guess the ban has stirred up some strong opinions. Some people think it’s a necessary move for safety while others argue that the government could have just enforced stricter content rules instead of banning the game outright.
Roblox isn’t staying quiet either. They put out a statement saying they’re working with local authorities to sort things out, and emphasized they invest millions every year to keep the platform safe and regularly talk with policymakers about protecting young users. They’re hopeful that they can get Turkish players back online soon.
The ban might stick around for a while until the company meets all the Turkish government’s demands. For now, using a VPN seems like the only way to play Roblox, but we recommend that parents and kids steer clear since it could be seen as illegal.
