Rune Slayer Character Creation - Best Races to Roll For
Race Rerolls in Rune Slayer cost 150 Robux, and they are fairly bad value. So, it's best to buy new slots instead and get new races randomly on those slots. Generally, the best races are Dullahan, Slime, Ailuran, and Elf. For the full rundown, check out our Rune Slayer race tier list.
Rune Slayer Class Selection - Best Classes to Pick
There are six classes in Rune Slayer, and you pick one of them out during character selection. Each class has specific sub-classes that allow you to customize your build further later on. Also, after level 10, you'll be able to multi-class. Here is the rundown of all the classes and which ones are best.
Class | Tier | Description |
---|---|---|
![]() Striker | A | Striker is a melee class that specializes in close-range combat using their fists. It's fairly simple to use, and it performs well both in PvP and PvE due to its easy-to-chain attacks. Striker's biggest weakness is a lack of defensive stats. |
![]() Thief | B | Thief is a melee class that specializes in close-range combat using a dagger. It's one of the weakest PvE classes, but its PvP potential makes up for that. It has a lot of mobility and single-target burst potential, though it is fairly squishy. |
![]() Priest | S | Priest is currently the best class in the game, mostly because the healing it provides makes clearing content a whole lot easier. Its offensive power is a bit lacking, but if you're alive for longer, you'll eventually outvalue any of the other classes. |
![]() Warrior | B | Warrior is a melee class that has both tankiness and DPS. However, its tankiness pales in comparison to that of the Priest, and its offensive power isn't as high as that of the Thief or the Striker. It's arguably the worst class in Rune Slayer right now. |
![]() Archer | A | Archer is a ranged class that performs extremely well in PvE due to its high sustained DPS. Plus, because it's ranged, kiting enemies and staying healthy is that much easier. The only downside is that in PvP, most melee enemies will get to you before you can nuke them. |
![]() Magician | B | The Magician excels in dealing damage to enemies from range and applying buffs and debuffs. Its performance is fairly underwhelming both in PvE and PvP, and its arguably one of the worst ranged classes to play in Rune Slayer right now. |
How to Sell Items in Rune Slayer

You can sell all the items that you want to get rid of at the John The Merchant NPC in the starting town (Wayshire). He has a stall right in the middle of the town. Here, you can also buy certain consumables and materials needed for crafting. There are more merchant NPCs in other towns.
How to Join the Adventurer's Guild in Rune Slayer

The Adventurer's Guild headquarters are located on a hill within the starting town (Wayshire). To join the guild, simply interact with the Receptionist NPC next to the Job Board. Once in the guild, you'll be able to take on quests from the Job Board.
How to Rank Up Adventurer's Guild Grade
To upgrade your grade in the guild, you'll need to complete 5 jobs of any kind. Then, a special rank-up job will appear on the board for you. Click the jobs one by one until you find the special job. It usually involves killing a special boss. You'll have to repeat this process for each grade rank up.
How to Accept Quests and Level Up in Rune Slayer

Most of the quests you'll get in Rune Slayer will be either from Quest NPCs marked with yellow question marks or from the Job Board within the Adventurer's Guild. The difference between those two is that NPC quests are non-repeatable. Doing these quests will reward you with EXP, currency, and items needed to progress.
How to Tame All Pets and Use Them in Rune Slayer

To tame a pet in Rune Slayer, you first have to hit it once to aggro it and then take out its favorite food. You'll know that the taming is working if there is a red heart above the monster's head. If the process is successful, you'll receive the monster as a pet. If it fails, you'll have to kill it. Here are all the tameable monsters in Rune Slayer and how to tame them:
Pet | How to Tame |
---|---|
Slime | Slime Chunk (drop from Slimes) |
Black Ooze Slime | Black Ooze Chunk (drop from Black Oozes) |
Deer | Apple (chop down apple trees) |
Wolf | Raw Deer Meat (drop from Deer) |
Bear | Honey (chop down trees with bee hives; requires Best Tamer - Archer subclass) |
Boar | Raw Bass (get it by fishing) |
Beaver | Oak Log (chop down oak trees) |
Alligator | Raw Serpent Meat (drop from Serpents) |
Bee | Honey (chop down trees with bee hives) |
Fairy | Just touch it |
Golden Fairy | Just touch it |
Baby Spider | Mandrake Root (drop from Mandrakes) |
Adult Spider | Mandrake Root (drop from Mandrakes; requires Best Tamer - Archer subclass) |
Mud Crab | Black Bass (get it by fishing; requires Best Tamer - Archer subclass) |
Panther | Animal Heart (rare drop from animals; requires Best Tamer - Archer subclass) |
How to Summon and Ride Pets
To summon/unsummon a tamed pet, you'll have to hold T, and to change its state, you just need to click T. To ride your pet/mount, you'll first need to get a saddle, which you get from Jimmy The Stable Master's level 20 quest (Wayshire). After that, interact with your pet (E) to start riding it.
How to Heal Pets
You can heal pets (tamed mobs) in Rune Slayer by eating HP-regenerating food next to them. Alternatively, you can just let them die, and they'll respawn. The cooldown for respawning a dead pet is 5 minutes. If you die and respawn yourself, the cooldown will be reset.
How to Reset/Clear Bounty in Rune Slayer

You can reset your bounty with the Lockmeier NPC located just outside the inn in the starter town (on the side of the building). For low bounties, he'll take only a few silver pieces from you, but for high bounties, he can take several gold pieces.
How to Fish in Rune Slayer

To start fishing in Rune Slayer, you'll first need to buy a rod and bait. The beginner rod and bait can be bought from Simon The Fisherman in the south part of the starting town (Wayshire). More advanced rods and bait can be bought from NPCs in other towns.
Once you've bought both the rod and the bait (you only need one bait in your inventory; there is no need to equip it or anything; there is a chance for bait to be consumed while fishing), you can equip the rod and cast the line into the water. Once you see the water ripple around the bobber, click again to pull back the line and fish out the catch.
How to Craft Items in Rune Slayer

To craft items in Rune Slayer, you'll need to visit one of the Blacksmith NPC locations. The first one is in the Eastern part of Wayshire. Talking to the NPC allows you to craft basic copper items. You can use the Smelter to his right to smelt ingots. Lastly, use the crafting bench near the entrance to craft advanced items. Picking up different resources will allow you to unlock new recipes.
How to Expand Your Inventory in Rune Slayer

To expand your inventory in Rune Slayer, you'll need to equip a bag item. You can get bags by buying them at merchants, finishing quests (Sadies Lost Bag, etc.), and crafting. Once you acquire a bag item, equip it in your hand and then use it to make it active.
That does it for our Rune Slayer beginner's guide. Starting your journey and progressing should be that much easier with all the tips and tricks we listed! For more RS content, be sure to bookmark the Rune Slayer section here on PGG.
