Solo Hunters Beginner’s Guide – Gates, Drops, & More

Here's a complete Beginner's Guide for Solo Hunters!

Solo Hunters is a popular dungeon-based action RPG based on the popular anime, Solo Leveling. While it looks simple at first glance, real progression comes from understanding various mechanics in the game, such as stats, portals, abilities, and reroll systems, early on. So, to help you get started on the right foot, this Solo Hunters beginner’s guide breaks down everything you need to know, from leveling fast and farming gold to choosing the best classes, abilities, and builds.

Best Stats in Solo Hunters

Stats are the backbone of progression, and poor allocation can slow you down drastically. Early on, Strength and Defense are objectively the best stats to invest in. Strength boosts your M1 weapon damage, while Defense increases survivability by raising HP and reducing damage taken.

Energy and Agility have a limited impact early. Energy only affects stamina for dashing, and Agility increases movement speed but not attack speed. Magic Power becomes valuable later, around level 50+, when abilities start contributing more to your damage output.

How to Level Up Quickly in Solo Hunters

The fastest way to level up is by repeatedly clearing dungeons that match your current power level. Portals scale rewards based on efficiency, so faster clears mean faster XP gain. Early on, stick to Subway portals before gradually moving into Jungle, Desert, and Snow Forest zones.

You should also always be on the lookout for Red Gate spawns and Dungeon Break spawns, which match your power level. These are special dungeons, and provide better rewards and a lot more rewards upon clearing.

How to Farm Gold in Solo Hunters

You mainly get Gold from dungeon drops and selling unwanted gear to the Merchant. To efficiently farm gold, you need to clear low-to-mid difficulty portals quickly rather than struggling through higher ones.

Another thing you should look out for is using weapons and accessories with Gold Buffs. Having perks like Pristine (+300% Gold Gain) and Gilded (+300% Gold Gain) on your gear can significantly increase the Gold drops from mobs. Moreover, you should save gold for Power Cells, Stat reroll items, and Merchant essentials once your gear is worth investing into.

How to Get Gems in Solo Hunters

You can only get gems from clearing Quests and even from Daily and Weekly Quests. Quests are the most consistent source and should never be skipped. Gems are used to summon abilities, which help you get your hands on stronger powers.

Regular quests from NPCs can help you get 20 Gems per Quest, where you can accept multiple Quests at once and clear them together. Daily Quests, on the other hand, provide you with a fixed 240 Gems every day for finishing every quest.

Best Abilities To Unlock in Solo Hunters

Abilities are obtained through Gem summons and are heavily RNG-based. Early on, any AoE or high-damage ability helps, but long-term efficiency favors builds that rely less on cooldowns. For more info on the best abilities, check out our Solo Hunters Abilities tier list.

Do note that higher-rarity abilities are powerful, but not mandatory early. You can focus on abilities that complement your stats rather than chasing Mythics too soon, and level them up using Mastery, which significantly increases their viability in the early to mid game.

How to Get the Best Gear in Solo Hunters

Gear drops directly from dungeon portals. Higher power portals drop better rarity items, but upgrading too early is inefficient. Farm until you get at least Epic or Legendary gear before spending Power Cells.

Set bonuses become extremely important mid-game. Equipping multiple pieces from the same set can massively increase damage or survivability. The Bloodsteel Set gives you +8% HP and +20% Melee Damage upon equipping the set. Do note that Red Gates have a higher chance of dropping better Gear.

Best Builds to Use in Solo Hunters

The current meta strongly favors melee M1 builds. These builds focus on raw left-click damage rather than ability spam, resulting in faster clears and safer gameplay. For getting a build like this, you need to max your basic damage by investing heavily in Strength Stats. Here's a quick overview of this build:

Assassin/Tank/Knight60% Strength, 40% DefenseDemon King Daggers/Link SwordVenomspike Set/Bloodsteel Set

Magic builds are viable early for safety, but melee builds overtake them once you have enough Strength and Defense. If you're in the late-game, you will almost universally rely on optimized melee setups.

Best Classes in Solo Hunters

Classes act as passive stat buffers rather than defining playstyles. The best class is Assassin (Mythic), providing +20% M1 Damage, +20% Magic Damage, and +20% Health.

Tank and Mage are also solid Legendary alternatives if you didn't roll Assassin. But since classes can be rerolled, you don't need to stress too much early. Rather, you need to focus on stats progression first.

How to Reroll in Solo Hunters

Rerolls allow you to reset or change core aspects of your character. These are usually obtained through codes or Robux purchases, and there are various kinds of rerolls for different stats and aspects in Solo Hunters.

How to Reroll Stats

Open the Stats menu, then click the Reset button. This returns all Stat Points so you can reallocate them properly. Free stat resets are limited, so use them carefully. Generally, it costs 99 Robux.

How to Reroll Class

Open the Stats menu and select Class Reroll. Each reroll has fixed odds, with Assassin having only a 5% chance. Save rerolls until you can use multiple at once. You can get these from codes or use 199 Robux.

How to Enchant Gear in Solo Hunters

You can also enchant your Gear, specifically your weapon, with certain traits. These include increased Loot Drops, Gold Gain, Crit Chance, and many more perks. You can only do so using Enchanting scrolls, which can be bought from the Merchant.

Regular Scrolls cost 1,500 Gold, Epic Scrolls cost 7,500 Gold, and Legendary Scrolls cost 30,000 Gold. The better scroll you use, the better and more perks you get on your Gear. You can enchant it at the Enchanting Table located on the west side of the map.

How to Reset Skill Tree in Solo Hunters

Skill Tree resets are much easier to get. You can use Magical Fruit that you can buy from the Merchant using 30,000 Gold to reset any Skill Tree. This can be the M1 Skill Tree or even the Abilities Skill Tree. Open the Skill tree, and press the Reset button in the bottom left to reset it, consuming 1 Magical Fruit.
