Solo Hunters Armor Set Tier List - Best Armor in SH
At its Early Access launch, Solo Hunters features nine unique armor sets, each consisting of three pieces: Helmet, Leggings, and Chestplate. These armor pieces can be earned as random drops from dungeon runs, and depending on the gate you choose, you’ll be able to obtain progressively more powerful gear. With that said, here’s the current Solo Hunters Armor Tier List, as of January 2026.

Solo Hunters Armor Set Bonuses & Evaluation
To better understand the reasoning behind our tier list, it’s important to know what bonuses each armor set provides when you have two or three pieces equipped. For the purposes of this tier list, we do not take individual set pieces (their Health buffs) into account, only the total set bonuses granted by equipping two or three pieces. With that said, let’s jump into the analysis.
S Tier Armor Sets - Best Armor in Solo Hunters
| Armor Set & Drop Location | Set Bonuses | Evaluation |
|---|---|---|
![]() Iron Set Location: Any Gate | 2 pieces equipped: N/A 3 pieces equipped: Deal 50% more Melee damage | Despite being one of the easiest sets to obtain in the game, it comes with a massive boost to your M1 damage, which is the most important stat in the game, making it the best armor set in Solo Hunters. |
![]() Serpent Set Location: Subway | 2 pieces equipped: Gain 12% extra health 3 pieces equipped: +25% Melee Damage | As I mentioned earlier, melee damage is the name of the game in the current Solo Hunters meta, and a +25% bonus is something you absolutely want in your build. The additional 12% bonus health is a nice extra on top of that. |
![]() Astral Set Location: Snow Forest | 2 pieces equipped: Gain 14% extra health 3 pieces equipped: +20% Magic Damage | If you want to play a rune-focused build, this is the perfect set for you, as it provides a 20% bonus damage boost to all your abilities. However, I wouldn’t recommend using it before at least level 50, as that’s when magic abilities really start to come online. |
A Tier Armor Sets - Great but Not the Best
| Armor Set & Drop Location | Set Bonuses | Evaluation |
|---|---|---|
![]() Venomspike Set Location: Caves | 2 pieces equipped: Gain 10% extra health 3 pieces equipped: +25% Melee Damage | Almost as good as the Serpent set, but with a slightly lower health buff, just enough to place it one tier lower. That said, given how important M1 damage is in Solo Hunters, you can pick this set and never look back. Adding +25% melee damage will never be a mistake. |
![]() Sunforge Set Location: Spider Cave | 2 pieces equipped: Gain 15% extra health 3 pieces equipped: +20% Melee Damage | This is probably the most balanced armor set in Solo Hunters, which alone makes it a great pick if you want both strong damage and solid defense. In fact, as I continue playing, I may end up pushing this set a tier higher. We’ll see. |
B Tier Armor Sets - Decent Picks
| Armor Set & Drop Location | Set Bonuses | Evaluation |
|---|---|---|
![]() Bloodsteel Set Location: Jungle | 2 pieces equipped: Gain 8% extra health 3 pieces equipped: +20% Melee Damage | A +20% M1 damage bonus is great to have, but the 8% health buff from having two pieces equipped simply isn’t on par with the sets in higher tiers. |
![]() Oathkeeper Set Location: Desert | 2 pieces equipped: Gain 18% extra health 3 pieces equipped: Burn Passive | If you want to go for a full tank build, this is a go-to set, but in its current form, the Burn passive is just way too weak, dealing negligible damage. Having zero weapon or ability buffs is just a big NO for me. |

C Tier Armor Sets - Weak, Good Only in the Early Game
| Armor Set & Drop Location | Set Bonuses | Evaluation |
|---|---|---|
![]() Bronze Set Location: Any Gate | 2 pieces equipped: N/A 3 pieces equipped: +15% Melee Damage | A solid starter armor set to use before you manage to find anything better. A +15% M1 damage buff is nothing to scoff at. |
![]() Wooden Set Location: Any Gate | 2 pieces equipped: N/A 3 pieces equipped: +10% Melee Damage | Just avoid it. Only equip this set if it’s the very first armor you get from dungeon loot, and replace each piece as soon as you find anything better. |
Solo Hunters Armor FAQ
The best armor set is the Iron Set, due to its massive M1 damage boost (+50% melee damage)
The best strictly defensive set is the Oathkeeper Set, which grants an additional 18% Health.
If you’re planning on using Runes and Powers more than weapons, go with the Astral Set, as it provides a +20% damage bonus to abilities.
The most balanced set is the Sunforge Set, as it provides both solid M1 damage and a decent Health buff.
Still with me? Thanks for reading until the end! That wraps up my Solo Hunters Armor Tier List.
