Looking to craft the best armor set in The Forge? While most players focus heavily on weapons in this popular Roblox mining experience, armor is just as crucial to your success. When push comes to shove, strong protection matters just as much as damage. That’s exactly why I’ve put together this list of the best armor recipes in The Forge.
The Best Armor Recipes in The Forge Winter Update
The armor system in The Forge is not particularly complicated. For example, there are no penalties for wearing heavy armor, as you would normally see in RPGs, such as becoming slower or having less stamina due to being cumbersome. Instead, they just outright give you better defense and health buffs, making it an obvious choice.
Why would you not wear a heavy armor set when there are no penalties to it - just straight-up better stats? With that in mind, let's see what the best The Forge crafting recipes for armor are, including the best Chestplate, the best Helmet, and the best Leggings.
| Armor & Recipe | Crafting Stats | Stats & Traits |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Chestplate x20 Darkryte x13 Demonite x6 Mythril | Multiplier 5.60x Success Rate 73% | Base Defense: 280
|
| Heavy Helmet x12 Darkryte x8 Demonite x6 Mythril | Multiplier 5.41x Success Rate 51% | Base Defense: 203
|
| Heavy Leggings x12 Darkryte x10 Demonite x8 Mythril | Multiplier 5.29x Success Rate 49% | Base Defense: 231
|
These The Forge armor recipes offer the highest base defense across every set piece, on top of insanely powerful passive traits. Since all the burn passives stack, you’ll quite literally become a walking inferno, melting everything around you to ashes while staying fully protected with massive defense and boosted health.
Best End Game Armor Recipes in The Forge
While the recipes above are excellent overall, a few tweaks can make them even better for specific late-game builds. Here, I shift the focus away from raw base defense and toward boosting your maximum health, allowing you to increase your damage with Eye Ores without sacrificing HP. That’s the core idea, so let’s jump straight to the recipe table before diving into the details.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Uranium trait is one of the few traits in the game whose effect caps at 5% and doesn’t stack beyond that. Because of this, you should only use it on a single armor piece (the helmet is the best choice), since there’s no benefit to applying it to every slot.
| Armor & Recipe | Crafting Stats | Stats & Traits |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Chestplate x18 Mythril x10 Eye Ore x10 Obsidian | Multiplier 3.30x Success Rate 71% | Base Defense: 166
|
| Heavy Helmet x9 Mythril x9 Uranium x9 Obsidian | Multiplier 2.96x Success Rate 47% | Base Defense: 109
|
| Heavy Leggings x12 Mythril x10 Eye Ore x8 Obsidian | Multiplier 3.36x Success Rate 49% | Base Defense: 148
|
As you can see, this build gives up a good chunk of raw defense in exchange for massively boosting your maximum HP. The goal is to get a free damage boost from Eye Ore while stacking HP to turn Uranium’s +5% Max HP into AoE damage. Since every other trait stacks, you effectively become a walking tank, capable of soaking up absurd amounts of damage without even noticing it.

Fast Armor Set
First off, shoutout to MistPC on The Forge Discord for coming up with this build. The goal here is to create a bulky, high-defense character that still stays fast and agile. As mentioned earlier, The Forge has no heavy armor penalties, so running a bulky set won’t slow you down at all. With that said, let's check out these "fast" The Forge armor recipes.
| Armor & Recipe | Crafting Stats | Stats & Traits |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Chestplate x17 Darkryte x13 Demonite x13 Lightite | Multiplier 5.54x Success Rate 79% | Base Defense: 277
|
| Heavy Helmet x9 Darkryte x8 Demonite x9 Lightite | Multiplier 5.50x Success Rate 51% | Base Defense: 206
|
| Heavy Leggings x10 Darkryte x10 Demonite x10 Lightite | Multiplier 5.47x Success Rate 49% | Base Defense: 239
|
As you can see, this build is quite similar to the first one, but swapping in Lightite shifts the focus toward speed instead of extra HP. It’s an excellent option if you prefer active movement in combat over pure tanking, letting you reposition more easily in fights and move through the map faster overall.
These are the three best armor recipes that you can craft in The Forge. Of course, there are other possibilities as well, and I encourage you to do some of your own experimentation, as this game is all about forging your own gear.
The Forge Armor Recipes FAQ
Using 40 ore in a crucible gives you an 84% chance to craft a Heavy Chest. However, that setup isn’t ideal for the builds we discussed earlier.
Heavy Leggings are one of the hardest armor pieces to obtain in the game, and a 49% success rate (using 30 ore) is actually the highest chance you can get for crafting a set.
Using 26 ore gives you a 51% chance to craft a Heavy Helmet, which lines up closely with the amounts we use in the builds above.
Darkryte and Demonite are the best core ores to use, with other ores added as needed, depending on what you’re trying to achieve with your build.
Yes, the developers have added a new, Viking-inspired heavy armor set. However, based on what we currently know, the new set is purely cosmetic, and it doesn't have any unique stats compared to other Heavy Armor sets. We will make sure to update the article once this is confirmed.
No, The Forge doesn't feature any system that slows you down or limits your stash when wearing a heavy armor set. In that regard, it makes no difference whether you’re using light or heavy armor.
No, it does not do that. Just like with Heavy Armor, the only differences are how much armor and Health bonus the pieces provide, as well as how much Ore is required to craft them. Lighter armor offers less defense and smaller Health bonuses, while also requiring less Ore to craft.
