The Forge XMAS update has introduced almost 30 new ores, and many of them come with powerful passive Traits and massive multipliers, allowing you to craft some truly monstrous new weapons. If you don't want to waste Ore or spend hours testing which recipes are best, we have just the thing you need.
Best Island 3 Weapon Recipes in The Forge Winter Update
The Winter Update has brought a noticeable level of power creep to The Forge, particularly through the quality of ores found in the Frostpire Expanse and The Peak mines. These new ores feature significantly stronger passive traits and multipliers, making them practically mandatory for tackling Island 3 enemies and bosses.

That said, given the game’s inherently grind-heavy nature, wasting rare ores on suboptimal crafting choices can be costly. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the best ore combinations for Island 3, for early, mid, and late game.
NOTE: These recipes are based our on hands-on testing in-game, combined with optimized builds shared by prominent members of the Forge Discord community, most notably zach.08ll. Huge thanks to them for contributing valuable insights to the community.
Best Early Game Island 3 Recipes
These Frostpire Expanse Ores are relatively easy to find, and as such, they’re great for starter weapons in this zone. Both of these combinations work well, as they help you survive the early game and make grinding through enemies to complete Bjorn’s questline much more manageable. You can use this combination on any of the meta weapons, but my recommendation is to try it with Spears and Colossal Swords.
| Island 3 Ore Recipe | Traits | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 100% Snowite | Snow Applies 15% attack speed and movement speed slow for 3 seconds, 30% on hit. | 8 |
| 70% Iceite, 30% Snowite | Snow Applies 15% attack speed and movement speed slow for 3 seconds, 30% on hit. Ice Freeze enemies for 2 seconds. 25% chance on hit. Has a cooldown of 12. | 9.75 |
Best Mid-Game Island 3 Recipes
As you slowly explore The Forge Island 3, you’ll want to start building up your damage, as enemies will become increasingly tougher to beat. For this purpose, introducing Voidstar into the mix is a risky but highly powerful move, as the ore’s passive Trait slightly lowers your Health, but the Critical boost is so insanely good that it’s hard to ignore.
On top of that, it also comes with some very solid multipliers. At this stage, you can go with any of the top meta weapon classes: Gauntlets, Colossal Swords, Straight Swords, Spears, or Katanas. My personal recommendation is, again, Spears, just because they are a new weapon which is fun to play and fairly powerful, particularly Angelic Spear, which is the best in class.
| Island 3 Ore Recipe | Traits | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 33% Iceite, 33% Voidstar, 33% Crimsonite | Ice Freeze enemies frozen for 2 seconds (25% chance on hit, 12s cooldown) Critical +33 crit chance and +15% crit damage Negative Vitality -15% Max Health Lethality +20% Physical Damage | 9.66 |
| 70% Suryafal, 30% Voidstar | Critical +33 crit chance and +15% crit damage Negative Vitality -15% Max Health | 13.5 |
Best Late-Game Island 3 Recipes
When it comes to late-game Island 3 weapon recipes, the community and I agree that the best option is to simply go for raw power. If you can’t afford to grind for a 100% Gargantuan build, a mix of Heavenite and Suryafal is a pretty decent alternative, though it will still require a lot of grinding. At this stage of the game, it’s generally recommended to stick only to the absolute best weapons, such as the Angelic Spear, Savage Claws, Hell Slayer, and Chaos.
| Island 3 Ore Recipe | Traits | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| 67% Heavenite, 33% Suryafal | None | 18.33 |
| 100% Gargantuan | Deals 20% of weapon damage as fire per second for 2 seconds. 20% chance on hit. Cause an explosion at the location of the victim, dealing 50% of weapon damage as AOE damage. 35% chance on hit. | 25 |
