RoboCop Rogue City is a relatively expansive game set in the fictional setting of Old Detroit. It has many aspects that make up an open-world game, but can it really be classified as one?
Is RoboCop Rogue City an open world game?
I've been playing RoboCop Rogue City for quite a bit of time now; I've played through many of the game's optional sidequests, and have progressed a good ways into its main story, and can tell you for certain it is not an open-world game.

Despite its appearance, RoboCop Rogue City would be better classified as a semi-open world game instead. This is because the game contains several open areas of Old Detroit you can freely explore, but each area is separated by load screens, and gameplay progression is rather linear despite the openness. While exploration does reward you with more experience (in the form of Evidence), and additional side quests (just by wandering around), both of these are few are far between.
The most meaningful progression in RoboCop Rogue City occurs while you're on a mission that takes place in one of the side areas connected to an open field. Wandering around an open field and attempting to treat it like an open-world experience will lead to nothing but utter disappointment.
