Rocket League, the hybrid soccer game, has just gone free to play on the Epic Games Store; this starts the new chapter of its life using a new formula. Instead of purchasing the game and then buying cosmetics using microtransactions, Rocket League follows the Fortnite structure of having a Battle Pass, aptly named the Rocket Pass. The more you play the title, the more unlocks you can earn throughout Season 1.
It's no doubt that more seasons will begin to drop one after the other, with more cosmetics available in every season. You do not have to have the Rocket Pass to unlock cosmetics, as after every game played, points will be earned, and these points can be spent in the Rocket League shop. Yet if you own the pass, more points will be awarded, and special unlocks will only be made available to those who have the Rocket Pass.
Who made Rocket League?
The high-octane game was made by Psyonix and was released on Steam and PlayStation 4 in 2015, but in 2019 the team was purchased by Epic Games.
What is the Fortnite Rocket League Crossover?
As Rocket League is now on the Epic Games Store, why not have a crossover with Epic's biggest franchise, Fortnite. This event starts on September 26, 2020, where you can unlock some Fortnite cosmetics for use within Rocket League! More information about the Fortnite X Rocket League challenges can be found here.
Is Rocket League free-to-play on PlayStation 4?
Rocket League is free to play on every console and platform. No matter where you download the game from, whether it's from the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Game Store, it's all free-to-play.
Does Rocket League support cross play?
Rocket League fully supports cross play, no matter what platform you are using to play the title. Cross-platform should be enabled by default, but to make sure, you can always go to the options menu, Gameplay, and make sure that Cross-platform Play is ticked.
