While Rune Factory 4 Special does put a heavy emphasis on combat, farming is still a core part of the game. You need crops to cook food to take with you into the dungeons, and farming is a great way to earn money. If you want to farm smarter, not harder though, then you will need to upgrade your tools.
How do I upgrade tools in Rune Factory 4 Special?
There are two ways that you can upgrade your tools, the first is by speaking with Leo, and the second is by using your forge. Upgrading your tools lets you go through your farming chores faster, especially in the case of the upgraded watering can.
Here are the tools you can upgrade:
- Sickle
- Watering Can
- Hammer
- Axe
- Fishing Rod
- Hoe
Your tools can be upgraded four times, and each time they will require an ore type that is more difficult to get. There are two item types that you will need for each upgrade.
- For example, some of the first tool upgrades will cost you: two iron and one scrap iron
Tools don't break down in Rune Factory, so once you have the upgrade, it's permanent.
