Each new patch for Old School RuneScape brings new items to find and create, as well as new areas to explore. Below I’ll look at how to make and use Sunfire Runes in OSRS, which is an upgrade on Fire Runes.
OSRS - How to make and use Sunfire Runes
Sunfire Runes were introduced in the March 2024 update for Old School RuneScape alongside the first area of a new continent, Varlamore. To make Sunfire Runes you need to have 33 Runecraft and need to be at a Shrine of Ralos. At the time of writing these shrines can only be found in Varlamore. To make a Sunfire Rune you will need Pure Essence and Sunfire Splinters (one of each makes one Sunfire Rune).

You can get Sunflower Splinters as drops from monsters in the arena-style battles held in the Fortis Colosseum in Varlamore’s capital, Civitas illa Fortis. They are also available as drops from Sunlight Antelope in the Avium Savanna, which can be caught with a Pitfall Trap by hunters (Hunter Skill 72 required). Sunlight Antelope can only be hunted, not attacked.
Sunfire Runes are a superior version of Fire Runes. Sunfire Runes increase the minimum damage of spells by 10 percent. You can also use 100 Sunfire Runes on Burnt Pages to make Searing Pages. These can then be used to charge your Tome of Fire, again increasing minimum damage by 10 percent.
