How to get a Drying Rack in Sons of the Forest

Learn to make some killer beef jerky.

In Sons of the Forest, food is one of the most crucial resources, but it can be hard to find. If you're hunting for food every day, you have to kill two animals and cook their meat, just to fill your food bar for the day. This process can get exhausting, and on days where the cannibals won't leave you alone, it becomes unsustainable. With a Drying Rack, however, you can set up food days ahead of time. Here's how to get a Drying Rack in Sons of the Forest.

To create a Drying Rack, open your inventory and select the Guide Book. Press the Drying Rack icon, then place the blueprint where you'd like the structure to be. To complete the Drying Rack structure, you will need to use 13 sticks on the blueprint outline. Once the structure is fully built, hold the Interact key while standing next to the hooks on the Drying Rack. It should open your inventory, allowing you to hang meats on the rack.

It takes one day for meat to fully cure on the Drying Rack. After meat is cured, it lasts much longer than cooked meat, and does not spoil as quickly. Dried meats are a great sustainable food source, preventing you from having to hunt for food every day. Once cooked, they can also be kept as snacks for expeditions, due to their slower expiration rate. Make sure to keep extra water on hand, as dried meat will drain your thirst.
