Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin features an interesting and somewhat complex Job Affinity system that functions to progress your character's skill set and statistics. Instead of traditionally earning XP for your character and automatically leveling up, you earn EXP toward your currently equipped Job Affinity after defeating each enemy.
Boosting your Job Affinity tiers thereafter earns you valuable passive stat boosts that pertain to the equipped job. Looking at the image below, you can see the Job Affinity percentage increments you need to hit to gain access to that passive.
There is also a hidden function within equipped Job Affinity. The more Affinity you have equipped, the more EXP you will gain, so if all your gear has Swordfighter Affinity (the job you have equipped), you will boost EXP gain. But if all your gear has, say, Ronin Affinity equipped, you will gain EXP for the Ronin job as well, depending on the Affinity percentage. In your Battle Settings tab (seen above), you can find the button prompt to show your Affinity Bonuses along the bottom of the screen. This screen shows you exactly how much Affinity Percentage you have, allows the switching of armor pieces that boost your desired Job Affinity, and provides the option to allocate special combo abilities that you can unlock by progressing through your desired Job Tree.
Accessed through the Main Menu at the world map and each Cubes Menu at various points in mission locations, your Job Trees tab will show each of your available Jobs and their independent skill trees. Among different attacks and status boosts to unlock, you can also use skill points gained for each job to upgrade your Job Affinity here, which will also raise your percentage for the selected job.
