Your first quest in The Thaumaturge sees you traveling to a remote village to find a healer to help with your condition. When you find them it is the famed Russian holy man himself, so should you trust Rasputin in The Thaumaturge?
The Thaumaturge - Should you become friends with Grigori Rasputin?
Grigori Rasputin is a divisive character in Russian history, seen by some as a scandalous and sinister charlatan but by others as a mystical holy man and gifted lay healer. In The Thaumaturge you play as a character dabbling in magic that is seemingly taming demons to do their bidding. This puts any dealings with Rasputin on a seemingly uneasy footing. Can Rasputin be trusted?
You’ll first meet Rasputin in the village tavern. You tell him you’re a thaumaturge and, after some verbal sparring, he’ll ask you to prove it. Once you’ve done so, you’ll get some dialogue saying, Rasputin will remember this. However, this is nothing to worry about. No matter how you develop your relationship with Rasputin, he will be there to help you when required.

As the game progresses, you will need to visit Rasputin each time you capture a new salutor. He will help you tame these salutors through hypnosis, after which you’ll be able to use them in battle. When you see a dialogue prompt that says he’ll remember something, this will affect how your personal story will progress with him.
This may affect how your relationship ends, but it will not affect your ability to use his abilities when you need them. Therefore, you can make decisions based on your role-playing preferences rather than worrying about any in-game effect.
