With numerous players trying to get into the game, it's common to see these types of errors occur, especially on a newly launched live service game.

How to fix The Finals not working

If you are encountering issues with The Finals, including being unable to log in or find matches, it may be an issue with the servers. Since developers have addressed the issue, players can try some general fixes, but the best thing to do is wait for servers to be fixed.

Here are some fixes you can try if the servers are overloaded with players:

  • Restart The Finals
  • Uninstall and Reinstall The Finals
  • Check for Updates
  • Check Internet Connection
  • Check The Finals X for server updates

Due to a large number of players in The Finals, developers have implemented a login queue, so you may find yourself having to wait to log in to the game. With the game fully out to the public, issues with logins and matchmaking should be fixed while Embark is trying to maximize its server capacities.

How to fix Black Screen in The Finals?

A lot of players, including myself, experienced the dreaded Black Screen when launching The Finals. The general consensus was to wait for one to three minutes as it usually takes a while for The Finals to load into the main menu. However, if this doesn't work for you, follow the steps below:

  1. On your Steam Library, right-click on The Finals and select Properties.
  2. In the General Tab, you'll see a Launch Options box; click on the box.
  3. Type "-dx11" into the Launch Options box.
  4. Exit the Properties window and restart Steam.
  5. Relaunch The Finals and wait for a bit, and you should see the main menu.

Some people have reported success with this method on the Steam Community Discussion, so make sure to be patient while waiting for the Black Screen to transition to the main menu. I did not have to launch the game in DirectX 11; however, I did have to wait for up to five minutes to get to the main menu.
