Fusion Energy Cells and Fusion Reactors have confused many players because their value is not immediately apparent in The Planet Crafter. In this guide, I will show you how to get Fusion Energy Cells and how to use Fusion Reactors, so you can access the treasures that they, together, conceal.
Where to find Fusion Energy Cells and how to use Fusion Reactors in The Planet Crafter
During my time playing The Planet Crafter, I managed to find two Fusion Reactors at these coordinates:
- 1100:26:637 within the Starting Plains Derelict
- 1572:83:601 in the Ring Wreck Desert Derelict
In The Planet Crafter, Fusion Reactors are unique structures found within crashed ships. These reactors are key to unlocking sealed doors within the ships, although they don't supply power to your base. Discovering and activating these reactors will grant you some sweet, valuable loot locked away in these derelict vessels, meaning they still hold some value and are, at least in my opinion, a venture worth pursuing.

Activating Fusion Reactors using Fusion Energy Cells in The Planet Crafter
To activate a Fusion Reactor, you'll need a Fusion Energy Cell. Inserting this cell into the reactor's container will unlock doors on the same ship, granting access to areas that were previously inaccessible. After collecting the loot, you can retrieve the Fusion Energy Cell from the reactor for repeated use, which is practical.
When you put the Fusion Energy Cell into a reactor, you will hear a hissing sound. Just retrace your steps to the previous room you walked in from, and you should be able to see doors previously locked now open. You may have to deconstruct some of the debris blocking the way in though.
Where to obtain Fusion Energy Cells in The Planet Crafter
Fusion Energy Cells are necessary for operating Fusion Reactors. They can be crafted once you've reached a Terraformation rating of 578.58 GTi, marking them as one of the game's endgame unlocks. These cells are not consumed upon use and can be retrieved after unlocking the necessary areas, which is good because it requires some really valuable resources. Here is the recipe to craft them:
- 3 Pulsar Quartz
- 2 Osmium
- 1 Super Alloy
While these cells currently don't power any machines or buildings directly, their role in activating Fusion Reactors opens up new exploration opportunities, offering you looting opportunities. What you get from crates is, unfortunately, randomized, so keep that in mind when going for the unlocks.
