The discovery of metallurgy is a game-changer for any civilization because it unlocks a whole new technology branch. This works for the alien world, too, so here's how to unlock, place, and use Ore Extractors in The Planet Crafter.
How to unlock Ore Extractors in The Planet Crafter
Unlocking the first Ore Extractor is easy; all you have to do is build the Pressure value to 155 μPa and 364.5 mPa for the T2 variant. The best way to reach that value is to unlock the T3 Drill and build four of them. You might need to wait around 30 minutes after building the drills to unlock the first Ore Extractor, but once you do, you'll be able to mine resources directly from the ground.
The T1 Ore Extractor also requires some resources, which are listed below.
- 2x Osmium
- 1x Iridium Rod
- 1x Super Alloy
- 1x Aluminum
- 1x Titanium
The resources for the T2 Ore Extractor are as follows:
- 3x Osmium
- 1x Super Alloy Rod
- 2x Iridium Rod
And there is the T3 Ore Extractor, which is crafted from the following elements
- 1x Osmium Rod
- 1x Super Alloy Rod
- 1x Iridium Rod
- 3x Titanium
How to use Ore Extractors in The Planet Crafter
The Ore Extractors work in a simple way; you just build them on the areas you wish to mine. However, you can place them on the surfaces that are available for mining, like sand or dirt. Concrete and buildings aren't good places to place your Ore Extractors.
The T1 Ore Extractor will mine only basic ores, such as Aluminum, Sulfur, Cobalt, Iron, Magnesium, Silicon, Titanium, and Iridium. For some more advanced ores, you need to upgrade the Ore Extractor by reaching larger Pressure values. The T2 and T3 Ore Extractors can mine all the ores the T1 models can, as well as Uranium, Super Alloy, Osmiumm, Zeonite, and Obsidian.
Keep in mind that some ores, such as Aluminum, Sulfur, Iridium, and Obsidian, can only be extracted in specific areas. Except for mining, you can use Ore Extractors to increase heat and pressure.
