Players are warned about their chosen origin and how it will affect how people treat them across the world in The Waylanders. The most important thing to remember when choosing an origin is that it should match your playstyle and class. We highly recommend selecting an origin based on your class because, otherwise, the combat will be brutal.
The origins for your chosen class:
- Guardian and Warrior - Celtic Soldier origin
- This starts with 6 Strength and 6 Constitution. Constitution and Strength are essential stats for warriors.
- Ranger - Dogs of Ares Mercenary
- This starts with 7 Perception and 6 Agility. Perception is the most important stat for a Ranger, and Agility is also important.
- Rogue - Alpha Wolf
- This starts with 7 Agility and 6 Perception. Agility is the most important stat for a Rogue, and Perception is also important.
- Sorcerer and Healer - Celtic Druid
- This background starts with 7 Willpower and 7 Intelligence. Both of these stats will be essential to growing your power.
Does the origin you pick matter in The Waylanders?
No, not really. Though there are some slight differences in dialogue, the player's origin does not affect gameplay in ways that stick to the player. You start the game in the same place, and the quests follow the same pattern.
After battles, it's normal to find yourself low on health, so don't think you chose the wrong origin simply because it is difficult. If you can at least survive the battles, you're doing well.
