How to Fix Twitch Buffering, Freezing & Lag

Nothing is more annoying than when you're using Twitch, and suddenly, your connection starts to mess up. Whether you're just lagging a bit behind or the screen is completely frozen, the interruption is frustrating. Luckily, this can usually be solved by using some quick fixes.

When Twitch starts to run poorly, you should first check your internet connection. You may find that you've hit a hick-up with your provider. If this happens, simply unplug your router for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. If you have already checked to see that your internet is working, the issue is likely the computer itself.

Here is what you should try to fix your stream:

• Delete your history and ensure that your cache is cleared.
• Check your anti-virus programs and ensure that they are allowing data from Twitch to flow.
• Turn off hardware acceleration.
• Turn off any programs and extensions that are running in the background.
• Flush or change your DNS.
• Try switching to a different browser.

If none of these work, then try restarting your computer. Once it's back on, ensure that no other programs are running in the background and go back to Twitch. In most cases, the website will be running smoothly afterward. If not, then you can assume that it is a problem on Twitch's end.
