Should you attack the inmates at Rykadi Philia in Rogue Trader?

Lies, lies, and more lies...

The inmates at the prison on Rykadi Philia are full of deplorable miscreants that attack you on-site. However, if you manage to come across the small group of inmates that don't, here's a guide on whether or not you should slaughter them for the Imperium of Man.

Should you kill the inmates at Rykadi Philia in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader?

I recommend killing them because you'll be presented with other methods of coming in contact with the Fellowship, and they lied to you to begin the conversation. I'll go into more depth below.

By the time you find this group of inmates, you will have already slaughtered several dozens of others. This is because most of the prisoners want to see you dead, so they dare attack a Rogue Trader on sight. What's unique about this group is that they save you from being ambushed. They even open a dialogue with you after the fact. How nice.

Upon initiating conversation, you learn that these inmates are different from the others (because they tell you they are), so they are happy to aid the Rogue Trader. Further conversation heavily implies that their honest claims are legitimate. This is when things can take a turn because if you manage to find out about their secretive faction (The Fellowship of the Void) before meeting them and mentioning it, their seemingly good honesty turns into diplomatic pleading instead.

Turns out, they lied to you at the beginning, and as you question their true motives, you learn that they just want to get on your good side, so you let them go. They even offer to introduce you to someone of importance in their faction if you listen to them. While I'm not far enough in the game to give you the full result of listening to these inmates, I have already seen some negative results of letting them live. They weren't anything world-shattering, but know that there is a small effect on your campaign's continuity that could cascade into something much larger in the future.
