In WWE 2K22 MyRise mode, players build a custom wrestler from scratch. Players get four Background options to choose from, which decide the basic attributes of your Superstar. Backgrounds and Archetypes dictate the fighting style, move-sets, and specific bonus attributes for each wrestler.
The four Backgrounds in WWE 2K22 MyRise are MMA, Pro Athlete, Indie, and Actor. Each Background has a different impact on the MyRise storyline, allowing players to navigate through the roster in various ways. In time, players will make alliances or rivalries depending on their storyline.
MMA
Selecting MMA will give your wrestler the following bonuses:
- 5% boost to Arm Power
- 5% boost to Leg Power
- 10% boost to Technical Submission Defense
The current roster includes Brock Lesnar, as the greatest example of MMA fighters in WWE.
Pro Athlete
Having a Pro Athlete Background will give you the following bonuses:
- 5% boost to Agility
- 5% boost to Grapple Offense
- 10% boost to Body Durability
Roman Reigns, the WWE Universal Champion, is a prime example of a Pro Athlete in the current roster.

Indie
Indie wrestles climbing their way up the roster will have the following bonus:
- 5% boost to Grapple Reversal
- 5% boost to Technical Submission Offense
- 10% boost to Aerial Offense
Actors
Actors turned wrestlers will have the following bonuses in MyRise:
- 5% boost to Recovery
- 5% boost to Movement Speed
- 10% boost to Stamina
