You can spend Heart Stones at the Jade Tree (individually or in sets of 10) to receive random blessings. Blessings come in many types and include normal and rare materials, Talents (including Jaded Talents), upgrade materials (such as Starsilver Dust), and even Yaoling Eggs. Each Heart Stone will get you one reward and they will always be valuable items (even if it is just a Ruby or Amethyst).

Unfortunately, before you can gain access to the Jade Tree (in the north corner of the village, above) you’ll need to help repair it by completing the Home of the Yaolings mission (see below). Once the mission is complete, the Jade Tree will appear in the village (see above) and you’ll be able to trade your Heart Stones with it whenever you earn them. I prefer to wait until I have 10 Heart Stonres to get that awesome list of goodies, but it doesn’t appear to affect the RNG (or number) of rewards you receive.

How to get Heart Stones in Yaoling Mythical Journey

Gaining Intimacy after a battle in Yaoling Mythical Journey

You’ll start working toward earning Heart Stones from the minute you start battling in Yaoling Mythical Journey. Each time you complete a battle, you’ll be shown a Victory screen which shows how much each yaoling earned in XP and if they leveled up. If you look above their heads, you’ll also see a +1 heart above some of the yaolings. These now like you a little bit more, because their Intimacy level has increased.

If you look at the top of any yaoling in your collection’s profile, you’ll see a heart (Intimacy) value just below the main information (name, class, level, etc. - see below). This starts as neutral, but when you pass 30 hearts the yaoling becomes curious and you’ll be rewarded with Heart Stones. There are several levels of intimacy a yaoling can pass through, each of which will reward more Heart Stones. They are also occasionally given as mission rewards, but yaoling friendship is the main source.

Checking a yaoling's intimacy level in Yaoling Mythical Journey

If you are considering dropping a yaoling from your team that you’ve had for a while, first check its Intimacy level. If it is close to 30, you should do some random easy battles to raise it to 31 and get your Heart Stone reward before dropping them.

You will gain more Heart Stones at each new Intimacy level:

  • 1 Heart: Neutral (when captured)
  • 31 Hearts: Curious (1 Heart Stone earned)
  • 61 Hearts: Friendly (2 Heart Stones earned)
  • 81 Hearts: Intimacy  (4 Heart Stones earned)

It’s also important to note that while the amount of XP you get for defeating yaolings decreases as you out-level them, the same is not true for Intimacy points. You get just as many Intimacy boosts in easy fights as in difficult ones. Similarly, elite or boss battles do not give a better chance to earn Intimacy.

This means that if you’re just short of a level, you can quickly grind out a few battles to get you over the line and earn the bonus Heart Stones. However, the yaolings that get them are random, so it may take you a while to get the ones you need. Also, as far as I can tell a yaoling needs to be in the battle (not just in your squad) to earn Intimacy.

Home of the Yaolings Walkthrough - Yaoling Mythical Journey (Map)

You’ll receive the Home of the Yaolings mission in the starting village right at the beginning of the game. You can open your Mission menu at any time by clicking the rightmost icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen. This is the easiest of the initial quests to complete and definitely worth concentrating on first.

If you look at the mission details you’ll see you need to attract a list of nine people to come and live in the village to complete it. You’ll find them in the following locations that can be found easily on your map (look for the little heads that have a blue circle on the map):

  1. Caulie: In the very southwest corner of the map in Fig Forest, directly south of the village in which you begin your journey.
  2. Chu-Chu: To the east of Fluvial Village in the Fluvious Hills, on the way to the School of Beasts.
  3. Holly: On the far western side of Peach Grove, west of Peachwood courtyard, across the bridge over the river.
  4. Wu’er: You’ll find Wu’er in Blackwood Swamp, which you can get to from both Quen’s Vale (southwest of Mushroom Farm) or Riverbloom Valley (north of the Orchid field).
  5. Gummy: Head to the Prismatic Quarry which is on the west side of the Amethyst Mountains, northwest of Amethyst Village and north of Queen’s Vale.
  6. Mrs. Fortune: You’ll find her a little north of the School of Insects in Leviathan’s Domain on the Wine Trail.
  7. Yamma: Head northwest from Crescent Village in Queen’s Vale to the School of Hunt (via Flutter Woods). Follow the path east once in the School of Hun to find Yamma.
  8. Mallet: In the northeastern corner of the Northern Snowfield, east of the School of Force.
  9. Doromy: On the Western Gulf, in Clam Village, north of Amethyst Mountain. Once you speak to her, you’’ have to follow her to the port at Coral Coast just a little to the west of Clam Village.

Note that each time you approach one of these characters you’ll have a demon battle encounter. The toughest one is Doromy, which puts you up against a level 25 Mawserrate demon. However, a well-balanced team of level 20 yaolings shouldn’t have any trouble taking it down.

Each character provides an important service for you to take advantage of once they arrive in the village, as they’ll each open up a store, service, or training facility. These are important to help you earn free money and resources with your unused yaolings, as well as trade for Spirit Gems, clothing, and more.
