Whether or not you happen across one by mistake, you'll notice that there are illustrations of random animals throughout Yuppie Psycho. When you find one, it will immediately get added to your inventory without explanation.
While it isn't essential to collect them all to reach the end of the game, you do get the Familiar achievement/trophy when you collect them all. This is where you can obtain all 9 of the Familiar's Illustrations:
The Bat
You can only obtain the Bat before completing Hugo's Birthday Party event. Before you can get this illustration, you need to get to the 9th floor of Sintracorp and look at the yellow sticky note to the East of the room. Once you do that, you can head over to the 7th-floor Archives and check bookshelf BX for the illustration.
The Spider
The Spider is very close by to the Bat illustration. In fact, it's in the same room. To the right of the Bat illustration, you'll want to move all of those bookcases down and investigate the crack in the wall behind them. The illustration will be inside.

The Snake
The Snake does require one of two things to have been done beforehand. Either you have the Poison Gas Contract, which you can obtain from the Forest Goblin, or you already cleared the poison completely beforehand. After that, you just have to head over to the 2nd floor at any point and go to the shelf at the furthest bottom left corner. The illustration will be inside.
The Owl
The Owl illustration is located on the 7th floor in the Library. Just walk behind the librarian and check the bookshelves. Please note that you must do this before doing the Sintra Family Mausoleum event.
The Rat
The Rat doesn't necessarily require any prerequisites, but you should acquire it before trying to complete the mission in which you steal the Athame Dagger. This is because the illustration is atop the CEO's desk on the 10th floor in the same location as where the Athame Dagger will be later on.
The Cat
The Cat illustration is probably the easiest illustration to get as it is located on Sosa's desk in your 5th-floor office.
The Raven
The Raven also has a prerequisite in the form of having to be acquired before entering the Sintra Family Mausoleum and completing the event there. You also have to acquire the code that leads to the Hidden Room within the elevator (Bell, Bell, Bell, 2, 5, 9, 9). In the hidden room, the illustration will be inside a filing cabinet.
The Toad
The Toad also requires you to have the Poison Gas Contract, which you can obtain from the Forest Goblin. On the 4th floor, head west until you reach RC's Lair. The illustration will be located directly above the bloody message sprawled on the floor in the bookshelf.
The White Wolf
The most difficult (or at least most strange) illustration to obtain is the White Wolf. You do need to note that there is only a small window of opportunity for you to obtain this one. First, go to the 5th floor and activate the Shrine to AM located to the West. After this, you'll want to head over to the 4th floor, where you will have to complete the Sintra Family Photo event.
After obtaining the photo, you'll want to go back to the shrine and speak with the woman who is now praying on the floor in front of it. You must speak with her at least once before going to the Forest Goblin on the 8th floor.
Once you purchase the Poison Gas Contract from the Forest Goblin, you will return to where the woman was to find the illustration left behind.
