Hinox are giant, cyclops-like monsters with one eye, and if you accidentally stumble across one, you may be terrified and not know what to do next. And I wouldn't blame you—they're scary! Here's how to beat a Hinox in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How to defeat a Hinox in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
If taking one look at the towering enemy in Tears of the Kingdom doesn't automatically tell you its weak point, it's the large eye on the middle of its forehead. This means that it's almost impossible to attack without a bow and without taking a lot of damage.
Approach the Hinox, who is usually asleep, and it'll wake up, stand up, and start attacking you with its massive club. Aim at its eye with your bow and fire; if successful, the monster will fall back, stunned. This is your chance to rush in with your primary weapon and go wild, whittling down its health as much as possible until it gets back up.
Rinse and repeat this until the Hinox is dead. Note that once it's taken a significant amount of damage to its eye, it will start covering its eye with its hands, and you'll need to wait for it to move them before you can stun it.

Hinox location in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
There is a handful of Hinox scattered throughout Hyrule, but the easiest one that I've found is on Carok Bridge, west of Lookout Landing. To find it, head to map coordinates -1067, 0452, and 0035, where you'll find it asleep on the bridge.
It will respawn every Blood Moon, so you can farm it for materials every few in-game days.
What do you get for beating a Hinox in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild?
I've beaten Hinox a couple of times in TotK, and both times, I received the following once I'd defeated it, alongside an array of random fruits:
- Hinox Toenail
- Hinox Guts
- Hinox Horn
These materials are great for brewing elixirs, so you may want to add Hinox to your "kill on sight" routine if you want the best buffs. It's the one monster I go back for every enemy reset!
