How to fuse items with arrows in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

Now I have to create a homing pigeon missile firing a cluster bomb!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces new features to the gameplay, many of which radically change how I've played previous titles. Breath of the Wild was a fantastic game, and it pleased me greatly to see even more features added on, such as Fusing items. Fuse power is a new crafting system that allows us to combine different items to achieve a particular desired effect. In this guide, we explain how to fuse arrows in TotK.

Using a Fuse power to make crafted arrows will give them unique properties, depending on the kind of items you Fuse them with. You can make fire arrows, homing arrows that track their target, or even freeze them in place. This ability will be instrumental as you progress through the game, especially for defeating bosses like Hinox, which are very hard to beat without a ranged weapon.

Best early Arrow-Fusions in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

There are so many items in TotK that can be fused with arrows to make all sorts of different things occur. Below I will list some of my personal favorites that have aided me greatly while I explore Hyrule.

  • Puffshroom
    • Puffshrooms created a smokescreen after making contact, obscuring everything in the puff cloud. Perfect for getting in a cheeky sneakstrike or escaping if faced against a high-ranking foe.
  • Bomb Flowers
    • Bombs are one of the greatest tools in all of Zelda's gaming history, and TotK is no different. Attach a bomb to the tip of your arrow and let loose to cause an explosion on impact. Perfect for enemies and for pesky rocks blocking your way.
  • Brightbloom Seeds
    • Brightbloom Seeds are unsuitable for combat, however, without these seeds, progression in the game would be exceedingly improbable. These seeds can light up the darkness when struck. So fuse one with an arrow to bloom light some distance away.
  • Eyeballs
    • Eyeballs are basically homing arrows. Fire near an enemy and your arrow will track and attack. These are perfect for enemies in the sky that manual aiming is difficult unless you're a pro or played Link's Crossbow Training!

These are just to name a few to help you out in the early areas of Tears of the Kingdom. As you journey through the regions of TotK, you'll undoubtedly find so many materials you can fuse with your arrows. Play around with the combinations, and see what happens. Don't let your JRPG instincts take over like it did with me, and horde everything, fooling yourself you'll use it later!
