How to get past the sand storm to Gerudo Town in TotK (Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)

Up, up, and away.

As is almost customary with a Zelda game, there is a huge sand storm blocking the way to the Gerudo area in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This time, though, there are some wind gusts that Link can take advantage of. These will make navigating the sand storm much easier. Here's how to use them.

How to get past the Gerudo Desert sand storm to Gerudo Town in TOTK (Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)

When players explore the Gerudo Desert in Tears of the Kingdom, they can only get to Kara Kara Bazaar before the huge sand storm blocks them. Fortunately, though, there are also huge gusts of wind that Link can use to glide to get over the sand storm.

With the wind gusts, Link has several options for getting to Gerudo Town:

Solution #1

Glide onto the gust of wind and look slightly to the left. There will be a platform that Link can easily reach with the paraglider.

Then, aim for Gerudo Town and glide forward. Link will end up in a trench in the sand called Desert Rift. From here, players just need to head forward a bit to find another gust of wind that they can use to glide to Gerudo Town.

Solution #2

Kara Kara Bazaar has a well that players can use to get half way through the sand storm.

Make sure to bring a couple of hammers here because there is a ton of rubble blocking the way. Head down the well, and then follow the path until Link comes across a room with sand pouring in from above.

From there, back up a couple paces and use Ascend.

Link will come out by a huge platform. Climb up, and glide to Desert Rift. From there, just head forward and look for the final gust of wind.

Solution #3

Players can use Ultrahand to make this much easier. Use the gust of wind to glide over to the platform on the left, then simply build a wing flyer.

This was the method I used, and I found it a lot easier. Not only could I just fly above the sand shroud the entire time, but I ended up at a shrine that's on top of Gerudo Town. That was great news to me, because now I had a warp point in and out of Gerudo Town.

How to enter the Gerudo Town Shelter in TOTK (Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)

Once inside Gerudo Town, players will find that the place is just about empty. This is because the Gerudo have all taken shelter in an underground area. They will also kick Link out because he is a "voe" and not allowed inside.

To get inside the shelter, head to the left corner. There should be a hole Link can jump inside.

Once below, follow the path to the right. There will be floating bottles with messages in them, so make sure to read at least one of them.

At the end of the tunnel will be an area that Link can use Ascend in to get inside the shelter.
