Over the course of 12 years, 7DYD has seen many changes through its many Alphas. However, the game will officially be out of early access in 2024. Check out the 7 Days to Die roadmap below so you know what's coming.

7 Days to Die 1.0 and Console Launch
The most important 7DYD update is the game finally leaving early access. 7 Days to Die version 1.0 will launch sometime in June 2024, with the console version arriving just a few weeks later in July. There are no exact dates, but we will know more as we get closer to summer.
The game is also getting a big visual upgrade, with new vehicles for you to cruise through Navezgane, new animals to run away from (Grace the Super Pig looks terrifying) as well as more zombies with a new gore system in place. On top of all this, we'll also get:
- New challenge system
- New props
- Road decals
- Graphics updates
- Optimizations
- Random Gen improvements
- Upgraded controller support, etc.
7 Days to Die Storm's Brewing update
Storm's Brewing will come in Q4 of 2024 as long as there are no major delays. This update will primarily add crossplay, allowing players on all platforms to come together and explore the post-apocalyptic world.
If you get tired of the Navezgane map and the several pre-generated maps that will be available on console launch, this update will also bring Random Gen to consoles. Other things you can look forward to in this update are:
- A wardrobe system
- Additional zombie stages
- Spawn near friend
- Twitch Drops
- Outfit DLCs, etc.
7 Days to Die A New Threat update
Did someone say Bandits? The long-awaited feature is finally scheduled to drop sometime in Q2 of 2025. It's been been so long since this new type of NPC has been announced as one of the goals during the Kickstarter and then delayed many times.
I think everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that they stick to this vague deadline. While I do enjoy the various zombie types as well as all the animals that love to chase me, I can't wait to get human enemy NPCs. And from the designs that TFP has been posting, I can say that they look pretty awesome. Hopefully they don't shoot better than I do, or I'm going to be in some big trouble. Whatever mechanic they choose for the Bandits, it will certainly spice things up.
Other than the Bandits, 7 Days to Die will also introduce an Event system in the A New Threat update. This is entirely unfamiliar and a new addition, as the only events you could experience in the game so far have been quests or the hoard attacking on the seventh night.

We'll also get a UI/Menu overhaul, which isn't surprising, as the current version is very different from what it used to be. I have gotten used to and quite like the current layout, so hopefully they don't mess up the UI. There will also be a new Quest type available, which I am very much looking forward to. So far, the addition of night quests to the game has been amazing, so I'm expecting something great in future updates as well.
7 Days to Die The Road Ahead update
I want to know who Duke is, how the apocalypse started, and how the traders formed. There are so many things I and the rest of the fans want to know, and we will finally get answers to all these questions with The Road Ahead update and the official Story mode, coming in Q4 of 2025. No more bits and pieces of the story, this time it's the real deal!
I am also quite interested in the Trader System Overhaul and what exactly it will entail, apart from adding new Quest types. Maybe they'll finally change traders starting work five minutes after 6 AM but close before 10 PM. I've spent way too many times outside chasing chickens waiting for them to be on time.
In addition to these features, we'll also be getting Steam Workshop support, boosting the players' creativity, which shines in the thriving modding community as well.
