Best Mods in PEAK

Now, we're not talking about mods that help you cheat. Instead, we're talking about the ones that improve the overall gameplay experience, and in certain cases, add more challenges for you to overcome. Despite being an indie title, a handful of mods have already cropped up, so here are some of the best mods that you should be using while playing PEAK.

Before we continue, note that while these are fun to use, it might cause disruptions for others who are playing with you. To avoid hiccups and triggering bugs like the one where your voice chat is down in PEAK, it's best if everyone on your team uses the same mods.

1) PEAK Unlimited

This glarmer mod is probably the only mod that will let you go beyond the preset lobby size in PEAK. While there's no upper cap mentioned, you can literally have all your friends in the same lobby. Be careful though, because there's a chance that having too many players might crash the game. But, it's fun and chaotic and makes for a lovely experience.

2) PEAK Unbound

Since it's an indie title, there are a few restrictions to whatever you can do in the game, and one such restriction is rebinding your controls. However, there's a handy little mod that lets you change your controls in PEAK. This mod by glarmer gives you more freedom with respect to your gameplay styles, letting you play at your own comfort level, with the keybinds that you're used to.

3) Outfit Unlocker

Whenever you unlock a badge in PEAK, the game rewards you with some cosmetic or the other. But, what if you're looking to pick up all the outfits that the game has to offer without bothering about completing the different badges? This mod by Elio helps you do just that. The outfit unlocker will let you access every single outfit in the game. However, it'll only be available for as long as you have the mod active. Once you deactivate the mod, your outfit gallery will go back to normal, and you will have access to jus the ones you've unlocked via achievements.

4) Backpack Viewer

Your backpack is probably the most important item in PEAK, and you always need to keep a tab on what's in it. However, this is prone to glitching and can often cause you to lose your stuff. To avoid such situations, use the Backpack Viewer mod by Vorshim92 in PEAK. This lets you view the contents of your backpack without having to set it down on the ground. It's a handy tool that lets you bypass some really annoying glitches present in the game.

5) Piggyback

In PEAK, whenever your teammate passes out, you carry them on your back to the next safe location. However, this doesn't work if your teammate is alive and well. So, if they're AFK, you won't be able to make progress because they'll be stuck in the same place till they return to their desk. Additionally, if you leave them behind, the Scoutmaster might come for you too. This mod called Piggyback by nakazora can help end all your woes by letting you carry your teammates on your back even when they're healthy!

6) Height Meter

PEAK is all about climbing to greater heights, but there's no clear tool which tells you how high you've made it. Enter Height Meter by YdofBoy, a mod that will tell you how high you've climbed, and has different markers for each player on the team. It has a clean UI too, so there's not a lot of obstruction either. If you want more immersion in your game, then this is one PEAK mod that you shouldn't be missing out on.

7) Atlas

If you're sick and tired of using multiple smaller mods to do lots of things in PEAK, Atlas is your your go-to hub by synq for all your customization needs. Featuring over 180 options, this is similar to a skeleton key that lets you explore a plethora of features, making the game more dynamic and interactive than what it is in its default state.

8) Infinte Stamina Mod

Using this mod is outright cheating. Stamina is an important resource in PEAK and it's something that you need to manage effectively. This infinite stamina mod by Vandermoore ensures that your stamina doesn't go down, no matter what you do. Thus, you can jump, run, and climb without even breaking to a sweat. It's fine if you're using it while playing solo, but try to not use it while playing with a group of friends or a random set of people, especially when they're not using any PEAK mods to their advantage.

9) PEAK Invitation Mod

Yes, PEAK is a co-op adventure, but inviting your friends can be a hassle. This unique mod creates a special join code for you that you can share with your friends. All they need to do is enter it on their copy of the game, and they'll seamlessly be teleported to your lobby. The only catch with this mod by Isotope is that both of you need to run a copy of this item for it to work properly for the two of you.

10) PEAK Ban Mod

If you're sick and tired of playing with people who're using various cheats to overcome obstacles in PEAK, then this mod is for you. Considering that PEAK doesn't technically have an anti-cheat service, you can use this mod to get rid of anyone annoying you from your server. While this mod won't technically ban anyone from the game, it'll just remove them from your instance.

How to Install Mods in PEAK

While each individual mod has their own installation steps, it pretty much revolves around pasting a .dll file in a specific location. However, to use mods, you need to have a software called BepInEx. Here's how you can install this software:

  • Download the BepInEx Package for PEAK from this link here.
  • Head to your Steam Library, right click on PEAK followed by Manage > Browse local files.
  • Extract the BepInEx Package into the game's root directory.

After this, run the game once to check if it's working correctly. If you experience crashes, it's recommended that you remove the BepInEx package completely. If you're still interested in continuing with the mods, all you need to do is:

  • Locate the plugins folder within the BepInEx directory.
  • Download the mod files that you want and place them in this folder.

Launch the game, and if the mod is compatible with the version of the game you have installed, it should start working automatically. You don't need to do anything else, or enable any additional toggles. Remember, using mods can lead to unstable gameplay, so be sure to install them at your own risk.
