The new Dragon Ball Z-inspired Universal Tower Defense X update is live and packed with awesome new content. Among other things, you can test your mettle in a brand new permanent mode called the UTDX Otherworld Hell mode. Here's a guide on how to beat the Janemba Event solo and win new event rewards.
What is the Otherworld Hell mode?
Otherworld Hell is a permanent event mode in UTDX, found in the Calendar Events menu. The mode is built around a boss fight where fake duplicates constantly appear alongside the real boss. Your main goal is to identify the true target (borderline impossible), focus your damage on it, and defeat it before the fight snowballs out of control. You can access the mode in two ways:
- Via the Event tab, by opening the event menu from the menu on the left side of the screen in the lobby
- By interacting with the Evil Demon NPC.
The mode rewards you through Event Missions, which ask you to clear specific objectives tied to Otherworld Hell and its enemies. These missions can give event currency, which you can then use in the Event Shop.
How to Farm Otherworld Hell Event Quickly
UTDX Otherworld Hell is a surprisingly easy mode to farm, mainly because there is no pressure, as the three bosses that spawn at Wave 10 aren't going towards your base. Rather, they sit idly in three positions that never change. One will always spawn at like this: One the start of the lane, one around the middle of the lane, and one near the end.
Once spawned, they will simply stand there and soak up damage. Upon defeating one of them, it will be revealed whether it was a fake or the real one. If you kill a fake one, the game will reset all three bosses to full health, and you'll need to start damaging them again from scratch. Supposedly, if you choose incorrectly too many times, something bad will happen, though I have yet to encounter that situation myself. Let me know what happens if you've experienced it - I’m genuinely curious.
There are two main strategies for the UTDX Otherworld Hell mode:
- Strategy #1: All players should stay near the first boss spawn location, clear the waves as quickly as possible, and then fully focus on a single target boss - the one that spawns at the beginning of the stage. This strategy gives you a 1-in-3 chance of picking the correct boss, which isn't ideal, but it is relatively fast since all units are focused on a single target.
- Strategy #2: If you have four strong players, another option is to split your focus between two targets. There is a small window of opportunity to kill two bosses simultaneously before all three targets reset. If your team has good coordination and can pull off a simultaneous kill, this can be an even better strategy, as it increases your chances of picking the correct target to roughly 66%.

What Units are the Best for Otherworld Hell?
Almost any strong DPS carry unit will do the trick in the UTDX Otherworld Hell mode, to be perfectly frank with you. However, if you have King Sailor (Unrivaled) or Triple Threat (Unrivaled), they are by far the best and most efficient choices. I personally used Alpha Devil (Omega) and Devil Hunter (Mercenary) setup, alongside Virtual Idol as a buffer and, of course, Bulmo and Fastcart for farming. This build worked wonders for me, as I was able to grind both the new Evil Incarnate unit and other rewards from missions relatively quickly.
I'm sure this team composition will work wonders for you as well, but if you're ever unsure about a unit and its value, I strongly advise you to check out our ultimate Universal Tower Defense X Unit Tier List, where we take an in-depth look at every currently available unit in the game, including all of their strengths and weaknesses.
Thanks for reading, I hope you'll now be able to ace the UTDX Otherworld Hell mode! And while you're here, don't forget to check out our dedicated UTDX hub section for more guides, builds, and tier lists!
