When you’re playing Make a Drill Farm, you’ll see a purple gem icon above your money in the bottom left-corner of the screen. These are called Gems and are required to buy items from the Blackmarket. This detailed guide will tell you how to earn Gems in Make a Drill Farm, where and when the Black Market appears, and what the best items are that you should purchase from the Black Market. How to Earn Gems in Make a Drill Farm
There are two main ways to earn Gems in Make a Drill Farm: completing Quests and spinning the wheel. Read on to learn more about both these F2P methods of earning Gems in Make a Drill Farm.
1. Complete Daily and Weekly Quests
The best way to earn Gems in Make a Drill Farm is by completing the Daily and Weekly quests. You can use the Quests NPC or the Quests button on the left side of your screen to open the quest menu. See the Daily and Weekly quests, complete them, and claim the reward (Gems).
The Daily Quests will reset after 24 hours, and the Weekly Quests reset every 7 Days, giving you plenty of time to complete both sets of quests and earn plenty of Gems.
These quests are fairly easy to complete because they’re mostly related to basic tasks that you’ll already be performing in the game, like using the drill spin, buying Totems, using the Golden Machine, and playing for a set amount of minutes/hours.
Note: Use the Reset All button in the Quests menu to refresh the quests before the timer ends. It will cost 12 Robux to reset the quests and the rewards.
2. Spin the Wheel
When you look in the top right corner of your screen, you’ll see a small wheel spin icon. Click on it to open the wheel spin that can give you different rewards, including Cash and Gems. You get 1x free wheel spin every 30 minutes and have the chance to earn the following number of gems:
- 150 Gems - 15.3% Chance
- 250 Gems - 9.1% Chance
3. Use Gem Drills
You can buy drills from the Black Market that you can install in your base, and they will earn Gems while you’re online (won’t earn Gems while you’re offline). These drills can be purchased from the Black Market using Gems. The table below lists all three Gem drills, their price, and their Gem production:

Note: Apart from these F2P methods, you can also buy Gems using Robux. Click on the Quests icon and then click on the Gems Shop. You can buy up to 6.9K Gems for 399 Robux.
Where to Use Gems in Make a Drill Farm
Gems can only be used to buy items from the Black Market in Make a Drill Farm. The Black Market is a time-limited event that occurs twice every hour and lasts for 10 minutes. Below is the recommended priority order of where you should invest your Gems in Make a Drill Farm:
- Mutation Cells: Cells that you can use to add the respective mutation to your drills. Use these to increase your ore production and earn more money.
- Oil Sprays: Different types of oil sprays that increase the drill’s ore production for a limited time. Again, use these to increase your ore production to make more money and get better drills.
- Gem Extractor, Harvester, and Prismatic Bore: Different types of drills that you can place in your base to earn gems while you are online.
- Clock: Time skips that speed up your drill installation. These can be very useful but are only required for late-game drills.
