How to save Eric in House of Ashes?

In the newest The Dark Pictures Anthology game, House of Ashes, players are able to save five characters, including Eric King. Eric, the new Commanding Officer of the platoon, finds himself caught in a dark place with his estranged wife and the team she's been leading in Iraq. There are several decisions that players must make in order to save his life specifically.

Actions to avoid when trying to Save Eric

There are several decisions players will need to avoid like the plague to keep Eric alive. Though there are a few misconceptions. Players do not need to cut the rope holding Rachel in the Temple, as long as they pass the Quick Time Events. The rope will snap regardless and Nick will come to pull Eric up from the ledge.

• Avoid taking Clarice with the party into the catacombs
• Do not shoot Balathu in The Assault, use the Crucifix instead
• During Strange Aeons, don't have Rachel stab the White Phosphorus

Actions to make when trying to Save Eric

There are several decisions that will cause Eric to survive or have a better chance within the group.

• During The Slayer chapter, players should grab the old medical kit
• In After The Fall, players should pass the QTE check to learn about the monsters weakness to light.
• During The Signal chapter, players should have Rachel fire instead of retreat
• Choose to Save Eric from Balathu in The Assault
• Choose the Desperate Options in dialogue to save Rachel in Strange Aeons
• In Strange Aeons, pass the QTE with Eric and Rachel against Clarice
• In the Final Stand, pass Eric's QTE to save him
