All Game Modes in Battlefield 2042

Everything to get you started.

Battlefield 2042 comes with a huge package of content that a Triple-A FPS game can offer. Although more can be achieved and developed over time, here are all the game modes in Battlefield 2042 at launch.

All-Out Warfare

This core Battlefield experience comes with a new storyline depicted in the future. Players can experience two of the most popular game modes in the franchise—Conquest and Breakthrough. These game modes are large-scale, combined-arms battles on seven massive maps.

Battlefield 2042 has expanded the maximum player count to 128 for the latest gen consoles, i.e., PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and PC. Unfortunately, PS4 and Xbox One devices only support 64 players due to hardware limitations.

Battlefield Portal

Portal is by far the most advanced and ambitious mode featured in any Battlefield game. It is regarded as a "love letter" to the franchise's fans by the developers. You can experience the new BF 2042 maps and some popular maps from older games such as Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3.

And the fun doesn't stop there. Anyone can build a tailored game mode with whatever settings they want via the Battlefield Portal Experience Builder. Although there are certain limitations to what you can create, Portal's flexibility and possibilities are unmatched.

Battlefield Hazard Zone

Hazard Zone is a fresh take on the loot-and-extract type game mode similar to Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown. Players drop in as a four-member squad to retrieve Data Drives from crashed satellites scattered across the map. Once you collect sufficient intel, your squad can exfil at the extraction zone.

But the objective isn't easy as multiple other squads will be doing the same objective. Clashes from enemy teams may occur during scavenging and exfiltration. Although Players can respawn team members, all items you carry will be lost if the entire team is eliminated.

Succeed by gathering the Data Drives and choosing when to extract before a storm overtakes the area in this high-stakes, one-life experience.
