It’s no secret that many trainers hate Quagsire—but only when they’re on the opposing team. It doesn’t matter if you’ve encountered them on a random Ace Trainer or Elite Four Bertha. They’re tanky, immune to water attacks, and can learn Earthquake. But don’t worry, there are a couple of ways to deal with this salamander-fish hybrid.
Quagsire is weak to one type: Grass. Having Torterra as your starter or a Roserade on your team will let you KO this Pokémon in one hit. If you don’t have a Grass-type, get a Pokémon who can learn a Grass-type move, like Gardevoir, through TMs. TM86 Grass Knot, which you received from Gym Leader Gardenia, is useful in this regard.

If you neither want a Grass Type nor a Pokémon who knows a grass move on your team, know that most Pokémon can defeat Quagsire in two to three hits. Just make sure they’re not vulnerable to Water and Ground moves (read: don’t use Infernape and Empoleon). Unless you meet Quagsire in the Battle Tower, you can also grind EXP and win against it with sheer power.
