Where to find a sledgehammer in Project Zomboid?

Break those walls down!

To find a sledgehammer in Project Zomboid, players will need to search both metal shelves and wooden crates in the game. Sledgehammers will also spawn in these containers alongside other tools. However, Sledgehammers are rare, and so you will need to search a ton of locations before you can find one.

We recommend searching garages, hardware stores, construction sites, warehouses, and any locations that feature crates and metal shelves. You can also find sledgehammers in firehouses like the one in Rosewood and inside metal cabinets.

How to use a sledgehammer in Project Zomboid?

To use a sledgehammer in Project Zomboid, you will need to first have it equipped on your back. You can equip a sledgehammer by right-clicking on it and then clicking the option to attach the item to your back.

Once the sledgehammer is on your back, you can use it to destroy most objects in the game. Sledgehammers also excel at destroying doors, and so we highly recommend using them to break into locations such as police armories.

You can also use sledgehammers to chop down trees, but it won't be as effective as an ax tool. That said, to destroy an object using a sledgehammer, right-click the object and look for a destroy option.
