In Elden Ring, players need to find certain items to progress in specific quests related to NPCs. One of these items is the Dark Moon Ring which is required to complete Ranni's questline in Elden Ring.
The Dark Moon Ring is located in a treasure chest at the Raya Lucaria Grand Library. The treasure chest will only appear at this location after players have acquired the Discarded Palace Key by defeating the Baleful Shadow. This is the location where players will defeat Rennalla, the Full Moon Queen. A Site Of Grace will appear after defeating Rennalla, and players will have to visit this location to revive Ranni after the battle with the Astel, Naturalborn of the Void.
How to get the Dark Moon Ring for the Age of Stars ending
The Baleful Shadow is a spirit counterpart of Blaidd who is located at Nokstella, Eternal City. After defeating him, Ranni says goodbye to the Tarnished, but that's not the end of her questline. The quest continues, and players will need to go fight Astel, Naturalborn of the Void at Lake of Rot. You will find a magic wall blocking the Cathedral of Manus Celes path, and you can open this with the Dark Moon Ring.

Go to the Raya Lucaria Grand library to acquire the Dark Moon Ring and return to the Lake of Rot to unlock the fog wall. Move ahead to the Cathedral of Manus Celes and descend to the tunnel below, where you will find Ranni's body. Put the Dark Moon Ring on Ranni's finger to bring her back to life.
Finding the Dark Moon Ring and giving it to Ranni are essential steps in this quest if players are looking to get the Age of Stars ending in Elden Ring. If you have completed these quests before visiting Fractured Marika, then you will get an option to choose between multiple endings.
