Can The Sims 4 be multiplayer?

Contrary to popular opinion, Electronic Arts has refrained from adding a multiplayer mode to its universally acclaimed Sims franchise since its 2000 inception. The Sims 4, known for having a treasure trove of expansion packs and features, also hasn't received the online counterpart fans have requested since its 2014 debut. So, to answer the question, no, The Sims 4 does not have a multiplayer option.

Within the base game, however, is a feature called Gallery. This is, in short, a catalog of characters, rooms, and lots that other players import to The Sims 4 for friends to download and use. But that's about as much as Electronic Arts has given out.

That said, there is a mod that allows you to play multiplayer in The Sims 4, though it is a work in progress. Simply titled The Sims 4 Multiplayer Mod, the fan-made tool gives you the chance to connect with other Sims worldwide in real-time. To install the mod, you must go to the official webpage and follow the instructions.
