How to use Ironshine Silk in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak

The Monster Hunter Rise expansion Sunbreak not only added an array of monsters for you to fight on a harder difficulty, but they've also added new silkbind switch weapons skills. One of the new Dual Blade skills, Ironshine Silk, is somewhat complicated to use, and the in-game description doesn't exactly help you. This guide will tell you how to use Ironshine Silk in MHR Sunbreak.

How does Ironshine Silk work in MHR Sunbreak?

Essentially, Ironshine Silk works in Sunbreak by allowing the Dual Blade user to regain their weapon sharpness gauge by a fraction when used. In addition, you will recover sharpness upon evading monsters' attacks using I-frames (invincibility frames). This switch skill lasts for 45 seconds.

When partnered with switch skills like Demon Flight and countering with Shrouded Vault, you'll regain your sharpness and, if used efficiently, maintain sharpness at the highest level available to inflict the greatest damage possible against the monster.

Using this with the new switch skill function, you want to have Ironshine Silk on the Blue Scroll and Shrouded Vault on the Red Scroll. Activate Ironshine Silk, switch to Shrouded Vault, engage the monster, and you'll gain sharpness when you successfully use it. Then, when it wears off after 45 seconds, switch and repeat.

When do you get Ironshine Silk in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak?

Ironshine Silk switch skill unlocks in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak once you have reached Master Rank 4 plus two additional key quests. Once done, Master Utsushi will want to speak to you back at Kamura Village, and you will get all the new switch skills for every weapon.

Is Ironshine Silk good in MHR Sunbreak?

Ironshine Silk is excellent in MHR Sunbreak, as the need to never have to sharpen again and retain your weapon's sharpness to deal the greatest damage possible is fantastic. This will be the meta switch skill all the pro players use. You no longer need to risk potentially fainting when sharpening your weapon or using your valuable Decoration slots for Speed Sharpener.

If you don't use Demon Flight or Shrouded Vault, then Ironshine Silk is not for you, as you need to use those two in conjunction to get the most out of Ironshine Silk. The downside to using this new skill is that you need to get used to switching between the two switch skill sets, then instantly switching back. You do not want to stay with only Ironshine Silk because you'll be losing one of the switch skills.

Ultimately, learning how to use Ironshine Silk will be a tremendous boon in Sunbreak. When you start getting the purple weapon sharpness, you want to regain that at all costs, and Ironshine Silk will help you do that.
