Fortnite: How to Catch a Can

We're used to catching fish for healing and gaining shield, but now we need to purposely find some garbage in the water! In this guide, we're going to go over how to catch a can in Fortnite! Once you have this can, you can heave it at some poor enemy that is foolish enough to cross you.

Catching a can is required in one of the quests that is part of the Meowscles Challenges in Fortnite: Chapter 2 - Season 2.

How to Catch a Can

The problem with catching a can is that it's a pretty rare catch. You can fish for a while and not ever get one, or you can fish once and receive it. Inevitably, it all comes down to luck. What you need to do to fish for the can is find a fishing pole, and fish in a non-active fishing spot. There's active spots where people will normally fish, because you can get better weapons and healing/shield fish from them. The non-active areas of the water can still yield things, it just tends to be Small Fry fish and ammunition. Here's what an active fishing location looks like:

You don't want to fish there, just fish in the water around it that doesn't have fish swimming around! As mentioned, you might need to fish quite a bit to catch the can. I thought for a little while that the can couldn't be caught in a lake, but after about 20 or so casts I finally caught one in the lake. So, it appears you can catch them anywhere, it's just very random.

I would recommend heading into Team Rumble and going to a lake area to find a fishing pole and an easy place to do a bunch of fishing. That should be everything you need know on how to catch a can in Fortnite!
