How to get a Pokémon’s Hidden Ability in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

It's hidden for a reason.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet feature a wide variety of Pokémon, each with different stats, moves, and abilities. Most Pokémon have one or two abilities they can learn naturally, but some also have Hidden Abilities that cannot be naturally found but instead are unlocked. This may leave you wondering how to unlock Hidden Abilities in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to unlock Hidden Abilities in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

To unlock a Pokémon's Hidden Ability in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you must use an item called Ability Patch. This will change the Pokémon's ability to its Hidden Ability. Once you have changed a Pokémon's ability to its Hidden Ability, you can breed Pokémon with that Hidden Ability. You must use a female Pokémon with the Hidden Ability, and there will be a 60 percent chance this ability is passed down.

How to get Ability Patches in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

You can primarily get Ability Patches from 6 Star Tera Raids and higher in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The chance of getting one is low, so you may have to grind a lot of Tera Raids before you get some. The Pokémon Company will add 7 Star Tera Raids as limited events, and these have a higher chance to reward Ability Patches.

Although this is a rare reward, you can also get Ability Patches from the Ace Academy Tournament. Tera Raids are the better route, as they can be completed faster and provide many good rewards that will help.
